Technology and Teaching Center (TNT) Reservation and Use Policies
The creation of the Technology and Teaching Center was mandated by the MSU Learning and Technology Roundtable (in contrast to the many campus labs for student use that are funded by technology fees) to provide a facility on campus dedicated exclusively for MSU faculty and staff use to: increase MSU faculty and staff technology knowledge, capabilities and skills; provide a facility for MSU faculty development of course media requiring technical equipment, software and support that is exclusive to the Production Studio; and providing a high tech seminar room for faculty and staff meetings requiring these technology capabilities.
General Description of TNT Facilities and Use Guidelines
Priority use is for Minnesota State University faculty and staff. If the facilities are not needed by MSU faculty and staff they may be reserved for use by MnSCU and State of Minnesota agencies for staff training or staff meetings. The TNT is open Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm when MSU classes are in session. Use when MSU classes are not in session is dependent on TNT staff availability.
The Development Center, Memorial Library 94A, is used for hands-on sessions requiring computers including regularly scheduled workshops, customized training for departments, and Human Resources testing. It has 22 PC workstations, including one wheelchair accessible station as well as an instructor console. iBooks are available for Macintosh-based sessions with up to six participants.
The Seminar Room, Memorial Library 94B, is available by reservation for MSU faculty and staff meetings and workshops. This room is also equipped for video and audio teleconferencing, multimedia presentations using the built-in computer or a personal laptop, satellite and ITV events, and presentations using the SmartBoard or whiteboard.
The Production Studio, Memorial Library 94C, is available for MSU faculty and staff to produce media to incorporate into MSU courses or presentations using equipment, software, and recording suite resources exclusive to this facility. ITS staff are available by appointment to consult with and assist faculty and staff to initiate projects. MSU faculty and staff may request Proximity card access to enter the Production Studio independent of ITS staff and during non-staffed hours.
Graduate Assistants and Teaching Assistants may be allowed to utilize the Production Studio during staffed hours with authorization from their direct supervisor and Department Chair for the purpose of developing media for courses they are currently teaching.
The Center is not available to hold MSU classes, seminars, or meetings with students or for any use not specified above. Use by non-MSU/MN agencies is at the discretion of MSU ITS Customer Services.
