December 11, 2015

We have been enjoying our Gingerbread Man theme. This week we continued to read the 3 different versions of the story and we also heard the story of “The Gingerbread Girl”. Ask your child how she took care of the “sly fox”. We had fun counting our Gingerbread men on the smart board and doing a fun shape activity. We have had a great deal of fun marble painting candy canes at the art table and have really been enjoying our gingerbread scented play-dough. We colored gingerbread pictures for Ms. Marlene and wrote her get-well wishes that we will compile into a book to give to her. We made gingerbread men with Ms. Kim on Thursday ask your child what happed to our beautifully baked gingerbread men. The kids has a lot of fun with this activity! Be sure to check out Miss Kim’s speech corner on the Jefferson website under Ms. Marlene’s classroom page, so you can enjoy some of the same activities with your child at home. Ms. Rachel was in this week and last week and has been talking to the children about our “happy” feelings, our “sad” feelings and our “frustrated” feeling and how we can deal with those.

Next week we will conclude our Gingerbread Man theme by decorating Gingerbread houses. We will compare the likes and differences with the 3 different versions of the Gingerbread Man books we have been reading. Finally we will vote on which one is our favorite and do a graphing activity with this. We will finish up our week with a Pajama Party with our friends in Ms. Cathy’s class and will watch a Holiday movie.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Miss Tracy
