Monday, January 8 at 1:30 p.m.
Advising Transfer Students presented by Amy Keeling & Faculty (O-101)
Nearly half of Roane State’s student population plans to transfer to a 4 year college or university. This session will focus on strategies and tools a faculty advisor can use to encourage students to develop a strong academic plan that will satisfy requirements for both Roane State and their senior institution.
Advising Pre-Nursing Students presented by Mike Burtch & Faculty (O-106)
This session will focus on advising strategies for students who plan to enter the Roane State AAS Nursing program OR plan to transfer and pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
Advising Allied Health Science Students presented by Susan Pearson
& Faculty (O-205)
This session will focus on advising strategies for faculty working with students who plan to apply to a RSCC Health Science degree program. We will review admission information, typical “accepted” student qualifications, and ideas for working with those students who may not be accepted.
Advising AAS and Certificate (Non-Allied Health Sciences) Students presented by
Kathryn Rhodes & Faculty (O-203)
This session will focus on students who are earning a terminal degree or a certificate at Roane State. Will include the majors of Accounting, Business, Computer Information Technology, Contemporary Management, Criminal Justice, Environmental Health Technology, Financial Services, General Technology Geographic Information Systems, Mechatronics, Paralegal Studies, and Welding.
Advising Education Students presented by Stacie Bradshaw, Cody Villarreal,
& Saundra Stiles (O-216)
Helping students navigate their pathway towards teaching either in a public school setting, a pre-school or in secondary education can be somewhat difficult. Our expert education faculty will facilitate this session on the differences and opportunities in education that faculty advisors can share with their advisees.

Accessibility Tools for Faculty presented by Dr. Susan Sutton, Bruce Botts, & Stephanie Shipley (O-101) A group discussion of the accessibility tools available on the CTAT website (http://ctat.roanestate.edu/accessibility/) while answering faculty questions regarding accessibility of MS Word, MS Excel, or MS PowerPoint documents, creating accessible videos with captions, creating HTML webpages in D2L / Momentum, SiteImprove, and Universal Design for Learning. CTAT Staff will answer questions and set-up appointments for individual faculty needing assistance.
