2015Referee Point System /To meet our goal of covering every U10 to U19 game with a referee and two assistant referees and U8 games with at least one referee, we need to attract and retain a large pool of referees in our region. To encourage recruitment efforts and ensure a FUN, FAIR, and SAFE experience for the children, Region 71 has implemented a formal referee points system for U10 – U14 divisions.
- Each Region 71 U10 - U14 team must earn a minimum of 100 referee points during the regular season.
- Teams that fail to reach that goal will NOT be eligible for post-seasonplay.
- Each team will be asked to provide a minimum of two(2) adult referees.Teams may also provide as many additional adult or youth referees, as they desire.
- All coaches are to provide to the Regional Referee Administrator the names of their designated referees or candidate referees by the end of the second week of the season.
- To be eligible to earn points for a team, referee must be at least a Regional referee and must have completed a volunteer form for the current season. No points will be awarded to referees who have not registered as a 2015AYSO volunteer, completed the online Safe Haven Program, online Concussion training, and participated in the one-dayBasic referee instruction, including passing the Basic referee test.
- Coaches meeting the referee training requirements may also volunteer as an adult referee but may not referee their own team’s games.
- Referees may award all of their points to a single team, or split the points equally toas many as 4 teams.
- Referees must specify how their points are to be awarded before October 1, 2015and cannot change that theirdecision.
- At least 80 of a team’s referee points must be earned on the field by referees associated with that team. Up to 20 points per team may be earned by attending referee clinics (5 points per individual) and the scrimmage at the Law Day (5 points per individual). Points for participating as an assistant referee on U8 games are given at the fields at the discretion of the U10 Director of Referees if and only if all U10 games are fully covered by three referees.
- Refereesare encouraged to participate throughout the season. Recently-certified referees must referee a minimum of four games or have the recommendation of a referee staff member to referee pool play games. No referees will be allowed to earn points after the Regular season ends.
