Communications report-Sue Lease discussed proposed changes in the membership criteria. The changes are intended to provide clarity, to different levels of membership. For example, eligibility for individual membership now includes faculty members who are training directors, program faculty who want to keep updated and those transitioning out or into the training director role. The changes to the membership criteria will be sent out for electronic review and vote.

Sue Lease discussed continuing the practice of having training directors forward their APA report to Sue to gather information. If you go to CCPTP website you will see the results posted from previous years. Sue will be sending out an e-mail to send in accreditation surveys.

Liaison Reports:

Kathlyn Dailey for ACCTA-The full report was sent to the listserve. Kathlyn highlighted a couple of issues: Economy-a number of internship programs are having financial problems. Internship programs are working to make sure students get the hours they need and most have been able to provide the interns their stipends.

ACCTA is working on developing an internship toolkit for developing new internships, which would include funding, structure, administrative issues, components, quality assurance, & FAQS. ACCTA hopes to present the tool kit to CCTC in October .

Kathlyn also reported that ACCTA is concerned about the ASPBB practicum guidelines. She discussed the importance of interns doing supervision and was concerned about interns losing that experience.

The annual ACCTA conference will be Oct 4-8 in Austin, with the focus on looking at the past and future of ACCTA.

ACCTA will be represented at the 2010 joint training counsel conference, partnering with APPIC for individual presentations.

Karen Taylor from APPIC- Past chair Steven McCutcheon also in attendance. Sharon Berry is the incoming chair. Karen is the vice chair. Highlights from her report:

Supply/demand imbalance-It is a hard issue but has led to collaboration to help with this issue. Would like to have a meeting to discuss the communication issues with ACCTA, and academic training directors. Discussed talking about advocacy for students vs. gate keeping (growth edge concerns).

Update on APPI online-organized by four portals: Applicant, DCTs, References, and Selection/Internship sites. Gave some instructions on how to use the new online APPI-think about timeline for having it done. Should be easier because student fills out the number. Need to make sure you fill out entire form once you submit (no way to get it back). Educational procedures-will be helpful to read e-mails she sends to us-details education process-they have created educational video you can watch online. Takes you step by step through applicant portal and ends with DCT portal. References-requirement is 3 could do 4. Once they submit names and contact info for references it will immediately be sent to the referee’s e-mail with instructions how to upload letters. Letter writers can designate which site the letter will go. Transcript requests can be done through the APPI online. There is also an option to upload material (e.g., Case example)
