- Next Steps for Scholarship Committee in 2008:
a)Continue to work with local chapters to complete assignment of mentors for all AABE Scholarship recipients (National/local) and develop end of year (2008) tracking report.(Template for Mentoring Program provided to Scholarship Committee Members and disseminated to local chapters)
b)Continue to work with local chapters and explore feasibility of establishing additional AABE student chapters. (Template for student chapter development provided to Scholarship Committee members and disseminated to local chapters).
c)Continue to explore opportunities to partner with other organizations that have similar mission as AABE. (Example – Center for Energy and Workforce Development (CEWD)……formed March 2006, CEWD is a non-profit consortium of electric, natural gas, and nuclear utilities and their trade associations. CEWD was formed to help utilities work together to develop solutions to the workforce shortage in the utility industry. It is a partnership between the utilities, their trade associations, contractors and unions to focus on the need to build a skilled workforce pipeline to meet the future industry needs. (
National Scholarship Committee Chair, Gerry Dawes will be attending the CEWD Annual Summit to be held in Florida from October 6-8, and will be representing AABE on a panel with other organizations such as INROADS and Jobs For the Future.
Suggestions for continual improvement to the Scholarship Committee process should be provided to Committee Chair or Regional Representatives (contact information attached).
