All tryouts will be held at the Links of Challedon golf course located off of route 27. Depending on the # of players trying out, we may have to make cuts at the end of tryout since the golf course can only handle a certain number of players on their course. On the first twoday’s will consist of playing nine holes. The last day isa series of skills tests will include hitting various clubs on the drivingrange, chipping, and putting and initial selections and team ranking. All scores are to be turned in. All skills will be evaluated. Players on the team last year shot anywhere between a 32 and 52 for 9 holes to give you an idea of the scores we’re looking for.
Requirements to Tryout
Physicals (All players trying out for the team must have a physical on file that has been completed by a doctor.) The back part of the physical must be signed by the player and parent and must have the insurance information filled out that includes a policy number!! This must be turned into Coach Sitarek before the 1st day of Tryouts. Physicals can also be turned in over the summer to the main office, Mr. Sitarek (Coach) or Randy Pentz (Athletic Director).
Players must have your own set of clubs
Expectations if you make the Team
Be a positive role model on and off the course first and foremost.
Be a student first, academically eligible status, athlete second.
Purchase a team uniform polo, hat.
Demonstrate a positive attitude and demeanor at all times. The team is guests at the Links of Challedon and must act accordingly at all times!!! Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated!
Attend practice 3 to 5 days per week. The schedule will be given to all players after cuts are made.
Make arraignments for rides to and from practices. On scheduled home matches, there will be no bus provided to and from Challedon our home course.
Make sure you get out and work on your game this summer, which means practicing all aspects of the game. Tryouts will be used for me to evaluate your complete game, not give lessons! I recommend that you spend lots of time hitting balls on the range, chipping, playing out of the sand traps, putting, and playing 9 or 18 holes of golf. Call me at Century if you have any questions.
