Save the World Project

You and a Partner are going to SAVE THE WORLD, or at least one area that needs help. You will choose any global concern related to something we have covered this year and get your teachers approval for a project topic. Then your scientific brains need to find a way to fix the problem. Include as much detail as possible, and your solution cannot be one currently used or developed. You will give a PowerPoint presentation that will include:

a.  the current problem

b.  statistics or fact about the problem

c.  any current solutions being used, invented or worked on

d.  your solution to the problem

e.  proof and procedures to implementing your solution

You will need to provide detail and evidence to make your solution valued and legitimate. You will also need to be ready to answer any question the audience might have about your solution.

Examples: (can not use)

Problem -Malaria in Africa……………………………Possible Solution – Mosquito Nets for beds

Problem – Wasting Water when brushing teeth……….Possible Solution- Waterless toothpaste

Point Breakdown: 60 Test Points

PowerPoint – visuals only – 10 points Explanation of problem or concern – 10 points

Solution – 30 points (logical, explained plan to implement, well though out, unique, etc.)

Question Session – 10 points (Confidence, prepared, answered all questions)
