SOURCES

You will search for sources, read and take notes (completing one full source sheet for each source).

  • You need to have a minimum of7-10 Source Sheets completed on your wiki-space, even if you decide to only utlize six of those sources in the actual paper that you write.
  • Source types must be varied, including: two books, two academic journal articles, two newspapers, one multimedia, and up to another 3 of your choice.(Remember to evaluate a website with a critical eye. Use the following website to help you:

Researching Tools

Database Search/General

a. Go to Lindblom’s library website at

b.At the top left hand side, you will see a box titled GALE POWER SEARCH.

c.You will see a number of TABS: Magazines, Academic Journals, Books, Multimedia, etc.

d.Print off article, read, highlight, annotate, summarize, take notes and pull out important facts or quotes that may help you make a connection. LEARN as much as you can.

Database Search/Newspaper articles

a.Go to Lindblom’s library website at

b.At the left hand side, you will see a link to “Research Databases”. Click on it.

c.Scroll down and click on “Newsbank.”

d.Username and password is 7110.

e.Search the newspapers to help you locate information on your topic.

f.Print off article, read, highlight, summarize, take notes and pull out important facts or quotes that may help you make a connection. LEARN as much as you can.

Database Search/Chicago Public Library

a.Go to

b.Under the heading “Online Research,” Click on “View All Online Resources”

c.Under “Quick Search” type in your search terms.

d.Enter the number from your library card and your zip code. Proceed from there—Pay close attention to the ProQuest Magazines, Journals and Newspapers.

e.Print off article (or go to library), read, highlight, summarize, take notes and pull out important facts or quotes that may help you make a connection. LEARN as much as you can.

Source Sheet Requirements

  1. Complete one source sheet for each source
  2. You must use summarizing and paraphrasing techniques correctly. Summarizing and Paraphrasing are two skills repeatedly tested on ACT. Make sure you are doing them correctly
  3. Source sheets will be available in my classroom and on the LMSA library’s website. You are responsible for obtaining them.

*If any part of this assignment is not included in your submission, it will be considered incomplete. If an assignment is incomplete, you will only be able to receive half credit for that assignment.
