Job Description
Title:Director of Whiteside County
REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Mentoring Services & Outcomes, Kim Aboyure(program compliance) & Senior Director of Enrollment & Community Partnerships, Sarah Walker (recruitment/enrollment).
Hours:Full-time day hours, Monday-Friday; Occasional Saturday
Anticipated Start Date: September 1, 2016

Position Summary: The position coordinates the one-to-one mentoring programs within Whiteside County, with a focus in the following areas:
Customer service and community relations: The person is responsible for providing high-level customer service with our school, family and volunteer customer base. They are also responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and investors in our organization. Examples include: United Way, Whiteside County 708 Mental Health Board, and corporate partners.
Program model implementation and compliance: The person is responsible for implementing our one-to-one mentoring programs in Whiteside County. This includes recruitment, enrollment, orientation, matching, match support and other ongoing monitoring and enhancement functions. This position is expected to make and support 75 mentoring relationship annually, with performance targets of the organization met.
Qualifications: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have the ability to use time effectively, work independently, focus on details, relate well to multi-cultural environments, and collect meaningful data to draw conclusions. Must have automobile, valid driver’s license, and appropriate automobile insurance.
Job Responsibilities:
1)Establish and maintain professional working relationships with schools in the assigned territory.
2)Work with school contacts to identify children for participation in the program.
3)Work with community partners to identify volunteers for participation in the program.
4)Coordinate volunteer enrollments, including individual orientations, group trainings, interviews, reference checks, background checks, and completion of any other enrollment processes in accordance with the Service Delivery Model, Standards of Practice, and BBBSMV Policies and Procedures.
5)Coordinate child enrollments, including child interviews, communication with parents/guardians, communication with teachers or school officials, and completion of any other enrollment processes in accordance with the Service Delivery Model, Standards of Practice and BBBSMV Policies and Procedures.
6)Match children with appropriate mentors.
7)Ensure that all match files are accurate, timely, and in accordance with the Service Delivery Model.
8)Ensure that ongoing match support of all stakeholders is provided in a timely manner within the requirements of the Standards of Practice and Service Delivery Model. Match support includes, but is not limited to:
- Through scheduled in-person, telephone and electronic contact with matches, ascertaining that the elements of child safety, match relationship development, positive youth development and volunteer satisfaction are fulfilled and that potential problems and barriers are identified and addressed as early as possible.
- Form and sustain appropriate child, adult volunteer-based relationships based on positive youth development and volunteer satisfaction are fulfilled and that potential problems and barriers are identified and addressed as early as possible.
- Effectively assess and execute the following relational support skills: guiding, supporting, confronting, advising and/or negotiating; relate well in multicultural environments; effectively collaborate with other volunteer match staff; use time effectively; and focus on details.
- Assessing and implementing individual and group training needs.
- Ensuring high-level proficiency in applying child safety and risk management within the matches.
- Developing strategic interventions to identify and strengthen match relationships that require extra support.
- Implementing and promoting match activities to support ongoing volunteer involvement through individualized recognition, annual events, and reengagement strategies.
- Conducting evaluations on matches when needed.
- Conducting exit interviews by phone or in person with all parties at match closure. Assess reasons for match closure and re-match potential.
9)Provide timely and comprehensive written summaries of all contacts with accordance to national and local standards in the AIM system.
10)Administer measurement tools, to include customer satisfaction surveys, program outcome evaluations, strength of relationship and youth outcome surveys.
11)Actively supervise AmeriCorps member in order to better the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters and meet the needs of the children in the assigned region.
12)Planand direct match enhancement activities.
13)Plan and execute Pre-Match Trainings.
14)Ensure the Standards of Practice, Service Delivery Model, and BBBSMV Policies and Procedures are being followed at all times.
15)Attend and participate in county and community organizational meetings including United Way, Whiteside 708, and others as required.
16)Participate in planning and carrying out fundraising activities: including but not limited to Plant Sale, Trivia Night, etc.
17)Organize and participate in Board Meetings.
18)When needed, assist in other programming needs, such as customer relations, recruitment, etc.
