It is the intent of the founders of this Memorial Scholarship Fund, as well as that of the Brophy family, that the "spirit" of the Colleen Brophy Memorial Scholarship(s) rests with recognizing those individuals who give of themselves, who motivate and who share excitement and enthusiasm for their school and set examples for others to follow in a value system of thinking of others before thinking of self - in short, an enthusiasm for loving life and helping others to enjoy it, as Colleen did. During his short life, his participation in some sports was hindered by a heart condition that he lived with from birth. However, this did not slow him down. He threw himself into every sport he could play, and he had a great time in doing it. Most of his friends were not aware of his health issues, because he never complained about them to anyone.

Through his participation on sports teams in Easton and through school Ted came to enjoy the friendship of many. He demonstrated the qualities of kindness and loyalty to his many friends as he prepared to enter college.

These qualities will also serve to define what the NAF SCHOLARSHIP is all about.
