Welcome:
Stephen Wall welcomed everyone to the meeting and thanked everyone for attending the Society’s 16th Annual Conference. The accounts are looking very healthy and the Society is putting a reserve policy in place so everyone can see what the money is for. Therefore, we are trying to put £50,000 aside for the running costs of the society, when someone gives money we can show where there money is going to. More information will be shown in next year’s report. Thank you to all the members who continue to fundraise for us, the Society wouldn’t be here without them. The Taylor family have done extremely well raising over £7,000 for the Society.
Every penny counts, Easy Fundraising is a good way to raise money. The minutes and Treasurer’s report were proposed by Jane Raper and seconded by Brigitte Mills.
A lot happens in the background of the running of the office in Glasgow. Arlene attends many doctors meetings, etc. Thank you to everyone for putting the banner on their Facebook page, it helped greatly to get the message about Turner Syndrome out there.
International TS Conference is next year, 2016, in Mexico in Cancun in November. Arlene will be attending the Conference and if anyone wants to go as part of the British delegation, they have to agree to raise a certain amount of money which will be decided and printed in the next issue of Aspects.
We have various rules and regulations on using social media including Facebook and twitter and are available to all the members. The weekend of Conference wouldn’t work if it wasn’t for the hard work put in at the office and the help of all the volunteers and committee, it just wouldn’t be possible without them. The hotel and staff at Park Hall are now used to the Society and now also contribute to the success of the weekend. The Society is allocated a dedicated manager and any problems are sorted very quickly, all the staff are very helpful and friendly.
Arlene thanked Stephen for his report. She also thanked everyone who booked for Conference early, Carlene appreciated it, if people can book early it helps the office organise Conference better. If money is ever an issue regarding booking Conference then speak to Arlene who can discuss a way of paying. It works much better booking the hotel separately now. People who booked late had the option of an express room which have come in at a much reduced price. The booking forms will be available at registration desk for next year, 2016, and there will be different prices for the different types of rooms.
Thank you to Carlene for all her help.
In Kids club there is a limit of 30 children so the age limit has to be restricted. Any child who is in secondary school can attend the teen’s group. Anyone in primary school and below attends the kids club.
There is a session talking about anything and everything for the older and more mature teens at this year’s Conference. All the others will have fun with Dan and Sam.
Arlene thanked everyone for attending this year’s AGM and Conference and the meeting closed.
