SECTION 1: DG, DS, DT, SAA
NAME:Paul AnsticeOFFICE: District Governor
DATE:Cabinet May 2013
DECISIONS REQUIRED:
Under the conditions of Clause 7c of the District 105M Charity Trust Deed, from 1st July 2013 and until such time as Cabinet reviews and amends this decision, or the District 105M Charity Trust Deed is amended, the officers holding the posts of 1st Vice District Governor and Immediate Past District Governor will be appointed as additional Trustees to the District Governor, District Secretary and District Treasurer.
JUSTIFICATION FOR DECISIONS:
Clause 7c of the District 105M Charity Trust Deed states ‘One or more further Trustee may be appointed by the said District Cabinet’ in addition to the three designated Trustees, the District Governor, the District Secretary and the District Treasurer. It is the Trustees’ view that there should be at least two further Trustees and have proposed the 1st Vice District Governor (who is the Chairman of the Finance and Administration Committee) and the Immediate Past District Governor. These appointments will ensure continuity between successive years as there will always be two existing Trustees at the beginning of a new Lions fiscal year, the out-going 1st Vice District Governor moving to District Governor and the out-going District Governor moving to the Immediate Past District Governor.
ACTIONS TAKEN SINCE LAST MEETING:
Between the two cabinet meetings in February and May, I will have carried out the following actions:
- Made six club visits atWellesbourne, Stour Valley, Bushby, Worcester, Birmingham Chinatown and Northampton Eighty Lions clubs. I am still trying to arrange a visit to Handsworth Ladies Lions Club which will mean that all clubs in the District have been visited by the Governors Team this year. I am currently arranged a couple of additional club visits of a more social nature to clubs that have been visited by DGE Simon this year. I would like to thank each club for the welcome that they gave to me and for the time each has dedicated to providing service within their communities.
- Held threeGovernors Team meetings with the VDGs.
- Held the 38thDistrict 105M Convention at Worcester on 22nd to 24th March. Despite the weather this was well attended and was a great success. The business session was conducted to schedule and congratulations go to Simon, Ian and Heather being elected as the Governors team for 2013-2014. Both the Host Night and Banquet and Ball were wonderful evenings of fun and friendship and my thanks go to all those involved in the running Convention.
- Attended the fourth and final full Council of Governors meeting and Multiple District Convention inTorquaybetween 25th and 28thApril.This will be updated at cabinet.
- Produced three DG Newsletters for March, April and May leaving one final newsletter to complete.
- Held meeting and worked with the MD GMT Coordinator, DG John Savell of 105A and DGE David Merchant of 105D to attempt to create a credible MD GMT strategy.
- Attended the Multiple District Young Ambassadors Final at the Village Hotel in Dudley on Sunday 24th February. There were 13 inspirational young candidates and although our candidate Ashleigh did not win, she was a credit to the District.
- Attended Lions UN Day celebration at the Palace of Westminster on 12th March and heard presentations from Jo Youle on Missing Persons, Anne Callaghan of UNICEF, an update on the Korle Bu project by Michelle Beaconsfield of Moorfield Hospital and from Angharad McKenzie of Wateraid.
- Represented the District at the royal visit by our patron The Countess of Wessex to MDHQ on 27th March
- Attended Charter Anniversary Celebrations at Walsall, Hinckley and Burbage and Barwell and Earl Shilton, Nuneaton and Bedworth, Towcester, Kingswinford and Stourbridge, Market Harborough, Birmingham Chinatown, Aldridge, and Knowle and Dorridge Lions clubs. In addition, Jackie and I will also be attending Charter Anniversary Celebrations at Thurnby, Sandwell, Rugby Rokeby and Malvern Hills after cabinet and by the end of this Lions fiscal year. We would like to thank club members for their kind invitations.
- Attended a number of social events around the District at Harborough Twenty 12, Balsall Common and Wellingborough. Between cabinet and the end of this fiscal year I will attend the Zone H Games for Special Needs Schools, Rowell Lions Summer Barn Dance and the Wellesbourne and Shakespeare Raft Race.
OBJECTIVES:
- To manage the District in an efficient and effective manner
- To support the cabinet officers in their roles and achievement of their personal objectives
- To support and encourage clubs and Lions around the District in ‘touching the hearts of those in need’
- To take an active role in the decision making and running of the Multiple District
- To have an enjoyable and memorable year.
I have reflected on whether these objectives have been met this year and from my viewpoint I am satisfied that they have, particularly objective five. However, I will leave it others to make their own decisions.
I would like to thank all cabinet members for the hard and dedicated work this year and without your effort our achievements this year would not have been possible. Jackie and I have thoroughly enjoyed this year and I hope that you all have as well.
