Welcome to the 2017-2018 edition of the Johns Creek High School Marching Band! We are well on our way with the plans for an outstanding show for our competitive season. Our show is titled “Ever After.” It will be intense, exciting and will include many colorful section! We are confident that we will achieve success and maintain the traditions that have been set in our previous years. We desire to increase our complexity level and to increase our opportunity to compete.
The enclosed packet should supply you with the information for the summer and fall activities as related to the marching band. Please read everything carefully and note the due dates for payments and forms.

MARCHING BAND CAMP INFORMATION
Pre-Camp andBand Camp is MANDATORY! If you desire to be a member of this organization, you must attend and fully participate in all activities. Color Guard is also a component of the marching band. Tryouts will be in April.

WHAT TO BRING TO CAMP
- Instrument,music, and supplies (Reeds, Oil, Mallets, 3 Ring Binder, Pencil)
- Clothing: Shorts, T-Shirts, Tennis or Running Shoes
- Marching necessities: hat or cap, water bottle, tennis shoes with good arch supports, socks. Sandals are NOT appropriate. Flat tennis shoes will make your feet tire quicker.
- Sunscreen, sunburn lotion, insect repellent.
- Individual Water Bottle
- Pillow, sheets (twin) or sleeping bag, towel, all items to exist in a camp situation (soap, deodorant, swimsuit, extra shorts and t-shirts, extra tennis or running shoes, a small amount of cash for snacks.
COLOR GUARD INFORMATION
In addition to the previous page concerning Pre-Camp, Band Camp, and Post Camp Rehearsals, all Color Guard Members should adhere to following:
- Color Guard Pre-Camp Schedule:

- Band Camp and Post Camp Rehearsals will follow the band schedule listed on the previous page.
- Once school begins, Color Guard practice will be held on Mondays, 6:00pm – 9:00pm and on Thursdays, 4:00pm – 6:00pm
- A special Guard rehearsal will be held on Tuesday October 10th, 6:00pm – 9:00pm due to the Columbus Day Holiday the day before. This is a contest week!
- All Guard Members are members of the JCHS Marching Band and should follow the guidelines and rules listed in the Band Handbook.
- Please read the Activities Fees / Operational Enhancement Obligation pages in this packet and in the handbook, and follow the due dates.

- Guard Parents are expected and encouraged to participate in the BPC (Band Parent Contribution) program, by serving in the Stadium Concession Stand during the fall and spring sporting events. The above fees are designed to cover the cost of the Guard Instructor and operating costs. We must purchase flags, flag poles, sabres, rifles, and other guard related equipment and props each year. Additional information will be discussed during the monthly JCHSBBA (Band Boosters).
Being a member of the band as a guard member, wind instrument member, percussion member, or Drum Major is an honor and privilege. We want your skill and behavior level the absolute best it can be! So, may we all possess and live “THE PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE!”

PERMISSION/RELEASE
In consideration of the Fulton County Board of Education, arranging a student trip is as follows: Participation in the Johns Creek High School Band Program and Winter Guard including rehearsals at school, Band Camp, and all performances, trips, and competitions during the 2017-2018school year and while being transported to and from said events, and in consideration of the Board’s approving the said activity, the undersigned Participant and the undersigned Parents or Legal Guardian of the Participant do hereby release, remise, and forever discharge, indemnify and agree to hold harmless the Board, its officers, teachers, members, agents, servants, employees, chaperones, and other representatives and /or any one or more of any thereof against any claim, demand or cause of action whether now in existence, or hereafter arising, for any injury to the person or for the death of the Participant or loss of or damage to the property of the Participant, arising our of, resulting from, caused by, occurring during, or in any way connected with the aforesaid student trip.
