Selection Criteria and information

  • This bursary is intended to provide a level of support to competitive national and international level GCH athletes
  • The bursary is open to athletes who meet two or more of the following criteria
  • Have been an individualNational medallist or finalistat senior or age group level in the past 12 months .
  • Athletes that have recorded outstanding times or distances in their event.
  • Athletes that intend to compete for GCH in a recognised EA/IAAF international level event
  • Applicants must be Aged 18 and over at date of application
  • Bursary payments will be dependent upon club funds being available and will be awarded at the discretion of the Galway City Harriers bursary committee and/or management committee and are intended to provide a moderate level of support for expenses incurred for competitive and high achieving athletes .
  • The committee retain the right to withhold payment if the conditions below are not satisfied.
  • Applicants must be a paid up member of Galway City Harriers

Conditions for Successful applicants

  • Bursaries will only be granted on the understanding that successful applicants will continue to show commitment to developing their athletic careers.
  • Athletes will be expected to make themselves available to represent the club for county, regional and national championships (including the national league) whenever possible.
  • Athletes will be required to provide the bursary committee with a brief review of their training and competitions every three months in writing.
  • The bursary committee will make bursary awards at their discretion and their decision is final
