The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Please choose one project from the following options. The final project will be due during the first week of the 2014-2015 school year. This handout must be turned in with your final project.

1. Poem or Song- Write a poem or song reflecting an aspect of the novel that spoke to you especially

vividly or deeply. You can focus on a particular scene or the story as a whole.

2. Reader’s Theatre- Alone, with a partner, or in a group of no more than three, choose a portion of the

novel to perform for the class. Be sure to choose a part of the story that involves mainly dialogue and to

use voice, hand gestures, and facial expressions to bring your performance to life.

3. Double Portrait- Paint or draw a double portrait of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Try to convey character

traits in the facial expressions, hand gestures, and postures of the characters. Make sure that your

portrait fits the descriptions of the characters in the book.

4. Special Effects Video- Invent your own special effects for showing the transformation of Hyde into

Jekyll. Videotape your transformation and bring the video to be viewed by the class.

5. Timeline- Create an approximate timeline of the important events in the story. The timeline should be

very professional looking and creatively done.
