ONLINE STATE TESTING HAS BEGUN
This spring all 3rd – 8th grade students are taking the state assessments online. 5th and 8th graders are also taking the state science test. The English Language Arts and Math online tests are called Smarter Balanced, assessing the new common core national standards. Our teachers have taught the new standards and have focused on teaching our students the technology to be successful on these exams. Parents, please make sure students arrive to school on time and plans appointments for your children are scheduled outside of the school day. Testing will continue until May 15th.
AN AMAZING SCHOOL YEAR IS COMING TO A CLOSE…. THANK YOU FAMILIES!!!
It is hard to believe the school year is coming to an end. Here are some of the highlights of this amazing year.
• Startup: Education and Facebook donated nearly a half a million dollars to Hoover for new high speed wireless, more technology devices and tech training for our teachers! Hoover was one oftwo schools in the district to receive this special grant!
• Hoover is the state demonstration site for SEALSobrato Early Academic Learning. Hundreds of educators and special guests visited Hoover Prek to 3rd grade classrooms this year. They were all impressed by the academic rigor at Hoover!
• Hoover won three prestigious awards this year, recognizing our outstanding success:
-Golden Bell: Best in Common Core
-CABE Seal of Excellence
-Kent Award: After School REACH Academics
Thank you parents, staff and students for an incredible year at Hoover! Our partnership together is what makes Hoover so special. I am so proud of what our students have accomplished and will continue to achieve. To our graduating 8th grade class: you are well prepared for high levels of success in high school, college and in any career you wish to pursue. Best of luck, Class of 2015!
