Program Manager

Role Description: / An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Business Intelligence/Database Developer to join the Solution Delivery section within the Information and Technology Services Group to further the success of the National Blood Authority in delivering award winning ICT solutions; innovating the management and supply of blood and blood related products in addition to improving services for clinicians and patients alike.
Deliverables / The BI/DB Developer is required to offer the following services:
  • perform technical analysis of data structure to offer tailored reporting solutions to meet user needs;
  • develop new visually compelling reports in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS2016);
  • upgrade existing reports to the SSRS2016 format and will also work to refactor and develop new ETL process to provide data for summary reports;
  • manage the deployment, testing and automation for SSRS and SQL Servers;
  • support troubleshooting and performance issues of reports and ETL processes;
  • suggest and implement improvements to existing processes, whilst following current NBA practices; and
  • clearly document all newly developed processes, and keep up to date in filing technical documents.

Required skills and experience / Selection Criteria / To be successful in the application the candidate should meet the following key areas and criteria:
  1. Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in developing dynamic reports across complex data structure with strong TSQL skills.
  2. Experience in detailed technical analysis (mainly data analysis) and implement design solutions to meed end user requirements.
  3. Highly effective written and oral communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate to achieve the desired outcome effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  4. Proven experience in using Visual Studio SQL projects (Eg: VS2015) including Team Foundation Server (TFS) Source Control.
  5. Experience in performance tuning SSRS Reports, TSQL and SQL Server.
  6. Able to maintain product backlog items, bugs and change requests using Team Foundation Server (TFS), prioritise work deliverables to meet the agreed timelines and at a high standard.

Fee Structure / Resources are to be quoted on the basis of Hourly rates including GST, and quoted in either half or full dollars.

  • Quoted Fees can be less than the Fees listed in Schedule 6 of the relevant Deed; and
  • Fees quoted should be commensurate with the resource being offered and the required skills and experience.

Security clearance / Must have or able to achieve and hold a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance and therefore must be an Australian citizen.
IMPORTANT: Where the need for a security clearance has been identified (as above), the Commonwealth requires all SpecifiedPersonnel to undergo a security clearance. In this instance, Specified Personnel must have completed and submitted a security pack to the Australian Government Security Vetting Agencyprior to commencement.
The Commonwealth requires all Specified Personnel to undergo Work, Health and Safety and Security Awareness training. Training must be undertaken upon commencement and be completed before the commencement of any work. Training is by means of an online courses and questionnaires that can be undertaken at Commonwealth premises.
