QUALIFICATION

I am a Geomatic Engineer with 1.5 years experience in digital image processing, GIS mapping and data analysis, GPS field data collection and Water resources Modelling using Arc HydroGIS module and Engineering surveying.

I have undertaken private consultancy in baseline survey and mapping for school quality assessments and training water resources specialist in GIS and mobile GIS.

I have also obtained experience with Civil engineering and Surveying companies while undertaking short term consultancy work. As freelance consultant I have worked with Alliance surveys in GPS mapping and modelling for Nairobi water and sewerage network. I also gained experience in topographical mapping, Setting out and supervision for the road construction at Windsor phase I civil works as an assistant surveyor.

I have also undertaken a private consultancy for CCF kenya on safe water mapping project in Makueni and Kajiado Districts being involved in the development of a GIS for water resource mapping,GPS field data collection, training, development of water resources maps and production other digital mapping outputs for EarthWater Ltd.

I was also involved in GPS mapping, and surveying for the feasibility study of the proposed bulk water transmission for Muranga and Maragua district. Where in obtained field experience in data collection for intake site identification, production of profile drawings at the design stage, topographical surveys and pegging for the water distribution to network for the surrounding community for Lujo consulting engineers.

I have also worked with a private GIS specialist and Hydro-geologist at various aspects of GIS and GPS mapping and training . I have specifically been engaged in aquifer mapping and water resources management projects being undertaken by ministry of water and irrigation.

In these projects, i participated in GPS data capture and GIS database developments and analysis , leveling, processing of survey data and gained knowledge and experience in the use surveying and GIS software such as, Esri Arc GIS( 9.0,8.5,9.2,), Erdas imagine 8.5 , AutoCAD land development, AutoCAD map200i,ER mapper,Autodesk 2007, Liscad, HydroGIS for water resources modelling and as well as Microsoft office suite.

EXPERIENCE RECORD.

May 2008 to July 2008-Short term consultancy

·  Associate Consultancy in School quality assessment and baseline survey with Alternative programmes Consultants for partners for Progress(PfP) involving GIS mapping work and school database development in Naivasha and Machakos District.

·  GIS and mobile GIS training for Embu water and Sanitation co Ltd,this involved training water resources specialist in water utility mapping and using Trimble mobile GIS in water utility mapping.

March 2008 –July 2008

·  I worked with Esri Eastern Africa as a GIS and GPS Analyst. Main tasks include GIS Proposal writing, solution development design and implementation for Esri GIS software and Trimble mobile GPS mapping products solutions developments for organization in Eastern Africa.

·  Private Consultancy in development Hydrogeological model for groundwater site analysis, prospecting and aquifer areas modelling project in Arusha Tanzania using GIS and Remote sensing .This involved satellite data processing using Erdas imagine 8.5 and data mapping and modelling using ArcGIS 9.2

Sept 2007 –March 2008

·  I was contracted to undertake a GPS field data collection training ,GIS database development and mapping work for CCF Kenya being involved in development of data collection questionnaires, GPS training, GIS Water resources mapping in Makueni and Kajiado District and technology transfer training with the District water resources managements stakeholders

·  I was also involved GPS mapping and GIS modelling for Nairobi water and sewerage systems, leveling surveying of the major trunk sewers, data reduction and analysis

·  Engineering surveying project for Winsor hotels civil works Phase 1 majorly involved in setting out of designed road, supervision of road layout exercises, setting out for drainages , sewer lines and other structures.

Undertaken a research project for Data integration for flood vulnerability and risk assessments using GIS, Remote sensing and Hydrological tools with a case study in Rivers Nzoia and Yala basin in western Kenya

§  Development of flood vulnerability and risk maps along the flood plain of the two rivers

§  Merging topographical maps, data processing and image rectification and analysis aimed at developing floodplain geodatabase.

§  Development of DEMs and terrain aspects, slopes, hill shades to enable modelling of possible flood shelters using Erdas Imagine and ArcGIS 9.2
