Selected Research and Projects:
•Performance evaluation of the robust multiuser detectors (CDMA) in astable distribution nonGaussian noise. Language tool: MATLAB.
1.Studied the performance of the robust multiuser detectors, including the linear decorrelator, the Huber approximate decorrelator, and the ML decorrelator. Besides, the boxedconstrained algorithm and the unconstrained/boxconstrained slowestdecentsearch techniques are used to further improve the BER.
2.Illustrated the performance of the subspacebased blind robust multiuser detectors based on the different kinds of covariance matrix estimations (conventional/median/robust).
3.Developed and implemented several kinds of demodulators according to the specifics of the received signals by using the conventional code acquisition/detection, MUSIC code acquisition, and MMSE detection. Language tool: Matlab.
•Channel Coding:
Implemented several kinds of encoders and decoders.
1.An encoder and an error and erasures decoder for a (63,51) RS code over GF(64) by using the BerlekampMassey algorithm. Language tool: Matlab.
2.An encoder and a softdecision Viterbi decoder for a rate1/3 binary convolutional code with BPSK and AWGN channel. The decoder operates in a continuous fashion. Language tool: C.
3.An encoder and a decoder for a rate ½ binary Turbo code over AWGN channel. Language tool: Matlab.
•Investigated the performance of a COFDM system with frequency offset technique.
•Developed a LDPC coded OFDMMIMO system with diversities via channel estimation techniques under various channel conditions. Language tool: Matlab.
•Demonstrated the throughput improvement of a multiuser OFDMMIMO system with/without Qos constraints based on several dynamic subchannel allocation schemes. Also investigated the effect of several parameters on the system performance, such as the number of dispersive paths, the number of subchannels, and the number of users. Fairness issues are further discussed. Language tool: Matlab.
•Implemented several data link layer protocols (simplex GoBackN ARQ, simplex Selective Repeat ARQ, ABP and its receiverdriven version) using C language and evaluated their performance experimentally and theoretically.
•Implemented several CPU scheduling algorithms, such as FCFS, FJFS, priority scheduling, and RR scheduling.
•Compared the performance of different buffer management schemes (RED, LQD, and DropTail) under TCP and/or UDP flows. Also analyzed the performance of different congestion control schemes (TCP, modified TCP, and TCPReno) under DropTail buffer mangement. Language tool: ns2.
•Developed a novel realistic model on link capacity estimation via the analysis of the statistics of the Internet traffic, and proposed a scheme based on mean filtering techniques to solve this model. Language tool: C++/TCL/Matlab.
•Applied the codeword length optimization methodology and Huffman encoding algorithm to optimize the rootedtreebased multicast key distribution schemes. By using the member deletion event as the basis of the formulation, it is shown that the entropy of member deletion statistics quantifies the optimal value of the average number of keys to be assigned to a member.
•Implemented the 2nd order ratebased congestion control and error control algorithms and analyzed the performances using ns2.
•Implemented Djikstra's routing algorithm and studied the delay performance of the network with a static routing algorithm using C.
•Implemented the AKS primality test using C and gmp library.
•Digital Image Procesisng:
1.Implemented some manipulations of digital images based on spatial convolution filters, such as minification, magnification, blurring, and sharping. Operations of blurring and edge extraction for an image in the spectral domain are also investigated using low / high pass filters. Language tool: C / C++.
2.Compressed images using a simple JPEGlike encoding / decoding process which mainly consists of runlength and Huffman code algorithms based on the color space transformations. Analysis of rate distortion functions and the DCT coefficient distributions are also conducted. Language tool: C / C++.
