White River Sting Basketball Meeting

Meeting came to order at 7:05 PM

Call to order and introduction on the board members

Tryouts will be 10/1/16 and 10/2/16

Marketing:

  1. We will not be handing out flyers at the WR football game on 9/9/16.

Rachel is going to ask Gibson to announce at the game.

  1. We will do yard signs. We need new signs with tryout dates. Julie will ask about the cost. She will also be looking into updating the website and facebook.
  2. Chamber of commerce-Rachel is joining the chamber. $60 per year. We will be hanging a banner under the chamber sign on 410. Rachel is checking to see what info is on the banner or if we need a new banner made.
  3. Peachjar-Julie will be sending a tryout flyer. Updating the flyer with “ballpark” pricing.

On the website we will want to communicate drop dead date for payment. No uniform for player until fees are paid?

Gym Space-no updates

Advantage Sports-Guard, Wing, Post clinic on 9/18/16 and 9/25/16

Tournament Dates-confirmed state qualifying status

December 17-18 boys

January 27-28 girls

Board Insurance-this covers coaches and board.

Website transition from Eric to Julie-we should be ready for registration 9/1 or 9/2

Tryouts-Who is running? And what are the times? Last year tryouts were 1 hour each age. We will start them at 1 PM. Rachel is updating the flyer with this information. We will open registration ASAP. Eric and Julie will need to meet.

How do we want to contact players after tryouts? Do we want to post teams on website? Doug is going to speak with the coaches.

Parent contract will need to be filled out before 1st practice.

We spoke about keeping $2000 buffer in the Sting account at all times.

Sponsors-

We have a credit with Eastbay. Under Armor uniforms are $64 per player.

Do we want to give a discount for uniforms that are reused?

Eric-proposed different uniforms for the 8th grade?

Volunteering-girls at the boys tournament and boys at the girls tournament. Do we want to have a buyout for the volunteer time? Maybe $50 or 4 hours per family?

Jamie likes the idea of “mini” tournaments. He will get the schedule and look into that.

League-Nathan will look into the sign up for the Auburn league now. He will also look into Puyallup, sign up should be soon.

The whole program will be at the Kelso and Port Angeles tournaments.

Next Meeting will be 9/19/16 7 PM in the library.
