If you are returning player and need a uniform either pants, jersey or both, we will be sending information on cost. Fitting day is July 9th. Same day as our Shop day at Dicks

Fields: We need to get our field request in. We will make sure that each team has the fields they need to practice. Also, we were told that our home fields should not be an issue with parking. Soccer is doing it now and it is working. Acker is available to meet with Carleen from City of Brighton fields the week of May 23rd. Dennis and Kevin will schedule another meeting with the City to get everything ironed out.

Equipment: Mike is still waiting for 2 head coaches to turn in their equipment. Inventory will be done when equipment is received. Mike asked the coaches if they received a Coaches kit last year. Dennis and Mike met with Dicks. We will be getting Under Armor kits this year. Coaches’ kits consist of a bag, a couple of balls and tees. We are building an on-going relationship with Dicks to help out them and also our league. Mike also asked the coaches what types of shirts they wanted this season. Coach Johnson will help in figuring this out.

Rule changes: The A Gap Rule - Bringing it back. New Version: 31.1 JMFA defensive players cannot lineup in the “A” Gap or head –up on the center during a punt, point after touchdown, and field goal attempt. 31.1.1 The “A “ Gap is defined as the space between the center and guard on offense. 31.1.1.1 The maximum space allowed for “A” Gap is one yard. 31.1.1.2 Players may line up at least one yard off the center position or “A” Gap. If the gap is larger than one yard players can line up on the line of scrimmage one yard outside the Centers shoulders. 31.1.1.3Defensive or punt return team players may not initiate contact with the center inside the one yard space. 31.1.1.4 Once the center leaves the one yard safe area he is treated as any player on the field. 31.1.2 If on 4th down, the Offensive team lines up in normal depth shotgun, the center maybe covered. 31.1.3 The offense must be in an obvious punt, point after or field goal formation. 31.1.4 Penalty: Unsportsmanlike conduct

Benefits of Change: Increase safety of players playing the long snapper position on all special teams’ plays. Limit potential injuries of long snappers and their adjacent players, and simplify the officiating process by making this a simple yes/no pres-snap call on the field.

Vote was to accept the new version. Motion passed unanimously

Rule Change: Waive the patch weight rule for 7th grade divisions. The weight is 135lbs. Benefits of Change: Two seasons for all players to better prepare for the High School levels. Generally if a player is still playing football at the Middle School level then he / she is interested in participating at the next level.

Recommendation was to not approve the rule change but to leave it alone. Passed unanimously

Rule Change: Camp Rules. Camps are defined as an official league or area function offered to all JMFA athletes during the off season. Organizers and participants will teach JMFA sanctioned football skills. All camps must be opened up to more than one age group. All camps must have players from more than one JMFA football team. Camps are defined into three categories. A camp hosted by a third independent party without any ties or funds being provided to JMFA or specific areas. These are generally camps hosted by local or national coaches/organizers. Organizers will contact JMFA or area coordinators directly for approval to advertise through local area or JMFA websites. Non-contact camps organized by JMFA participants which consist of drills that do not require protective equipment. ETC. Attachments added to website.

The motion was to not approve the rule change. Passed unanimously

Rule Change: Rule 5.1 New Version: Roster must list the players’ name complete address; telephone number, birth date, and school grade level at the official weigh in. Player must weigh in with jersey showing players jersey number. Jersey number, weight, and height will be recorded at weigh ins. If jersey is not available, player must have in hand his/her jersey number written on a blank paper to be weighed in

Motion to approve the new version – Motioned passed unanimously

Rule Change: Rule 30.1 New Version: JMFA teams playing in 2nd and 3rd grade football can declare a free punt on 4th down. Benefits of Change: Allows all 3rd grade teams to declare a punt on 4th down for the entire season.
