Intel / Golden Apple STEM Teacher Grants
New Mexico public school STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) teachers in grades fourth through ninth are invited to submit a proposal to the Intel/Golden Apple STEM Teaching Grant Program.
A clearinghouse of applications and completed projects will promote math and science lessons or teaching techniques that include math and science learning will be available at support, record and share creative STEM teaching initiatives. These lessons will be licensed for the Creative Commons and kept in the public arena for free online access in the interest of bettering education.
Application Guidelines
Proposalsfor unique or innovative lesson plansthat can be implemented in fall 2018 will be considered. The following elements are sought:
- Scalability of the project is an important factor. Projects that have the potential for adaption to multiple grades with a school or potential distribution to the same grade level across a district are highly favored.
- Engagement of volunteers, community partners or outside experts is favored and the budget may reflect those costs.
- Cross discipline collaboration is a positive. Lessons that are team-taught or are collaborative across departments are viewed more favorably.
- Specific application to STEM core concepts and critical thinking need to be addressed in the proposal.
Lessons that could otherwise be funded through routine or recurring funding sources are discouraged. Accepted and qualifying applications will be considered for a grant of up to $2,000, payable to the school. Please note:
- Only one application per teacher is accepted.
- Only one application per classroom is accepted.
- Although teachers from the same school may apply, only one grant at a school will be awarded.
- Recipients of the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching are not eligible to apply.
The Selection Committee, which has sole responsibility for determining which projects will be funded, is comprised of Intel volunteers and Golden Apple recognized teachers. Applications can be submitted between February 15 and through May 20, 2018.
