LTA U2-U3 Chair Umpire Development Group 2017
Objective
The objective of the U2-U3 Chair Umpire Development Group is to maximise the potential of up and coming U2 and U3 Chair Umpires who have been identified as Officials with the ability and motivation to progress to the National Development Group in the future.
The LTA commit to enhance and increase the experience of the Group Members to allow them to be selected for and pass Pro Tennis Umpire course (for current U3 Chair Umpires) and to progress to U1 (for current U2 and U2N Chair Umpires) as well as supporting them in their development as a Line Umpire.
Criteria for Membership
The LTA will review certain criteria before finalising the membership of the National Chair Umpire Development Group which includes, but is not limited to, the following:
· The Official must be in good standing with LTA Officiating holding a current Officials Licence
· The Official has demonstrated the potential, aptitude and ability to pass the Pro Tennis Umpire course, or has already passed the course
· The Official commits to work at a good number of tournaments to retain their current grades as per the ABTO grading structure
· The Official has received satisfactory evaluations at professional events in the previous year as well as strong assessments at non-professional tournaments
LTA Officiating Commitment
The LTA will work with the members of the group and ABTO to ensure the following:
· Priority selection at professional and non-professional events in Great Britain
· Setting of targets for each member of the group for the year
· A mid-year review at The Championships to report on target progress and plan for remainder of the year
· Sourcing of development tools for members of the group including mentor system, bespoke rules tests and group meetings
