UNIT OVERVIEW
RAF Henlow provides support and accommodation for its numerous lodger units, which include HQ RAF Police Standards Flight, RAFP & SY Flt, Medical Centre, the RAF Centre for Aviation Medicine (RAF CAM), DCSU (Defence Cultural Specialist Unit), JACIG (Joint Arms Control Implementation Group), ISS Eng Ops (Engineering Operations) and The Band of The Queen's Division (British Army). A civilian flying school also operates from the site.

LOCAL AREA

RAF Henlow is situated in Central Bedfordshire, equidistant from Bedford, Luton and Stevenage. From junction of the A600 and A6001 Bedford / Hitchin / Biggleswade Road. The A1 J10 is approx 4 miles and M1 J11 approx 16 miles. London lies 40 miles to the south; there are frequent trains (approx 35 mins) from Arlesey /Hitchin Train Station to the capital.

RAF Henlow has a wide range of facilities; catered by elior- Crystals the Junior Ranks mess accommodates Costa coffee & Londis Shop. Officers' Mess, WOs' and Sgts' Mess, Whittles – Junior/all ranks social club, Interactive Learning Centre, Gymnasium, Swimming Pool, Tennis Courts, Day Care Nursery -Merry Poppets, Bowling Alley, Hairdressers, Amateur Theatrical Society, Signals Museum, Thrift Shop, Dottie’s – indoor soft play facility, Welfare Accommodation, Air Cadets, Youth Club, Flying Club and a 9 hole golf course open to the public.

The Community Centre accommodates the Salvation Army Coffee Shop, monthly Station Coffee Mornings, weekly Café Church, Parent Group - ‘Tiny Troopers’, Messy Church – Salvation Army family craft session and Rainbows/Brownies..

The Stapleton-Cotton Centre accommodates the HIVE, Service Community Support Officer (SCSO) Community Development Officer (CDO), Station Youth Worker (SYW) & SSAFA. Free WiFi available in Crystals and Whittle’s facilities, internet use within the Learning Centre and HIVE.

RAF Henlow has a three bedroom house located off the station, along with two flats and two double rooms located on the station, providing short term accommodation in case of emergencies, for visiting families of single personnel or for personnel living in SLA who require somewhere for their children’s access visits.
