Team Point Challenge

It’s a draw! Well done to Team Wales and Team Scotlandwho have jointly won this half terms Team challenge. Due to our Easter Service their non uniform day will be on Friday 15th April.

FoBs

I am delighted to say that our Friends of the School group will be continuing in their support of the school.I would like to thank all the volunteers that have come forward. The new key committee members are:

Rachel Cook – Chair

Lisa Moore – Vice Chair

Lisa McSkelly – Treasurer

Emma Clark – Secretary

I know they will be looking for more supporters, if you would like to be involved in any way please make contact with them via the school office.

Our out-going FoBs committee will continue to be involved until the end of the year to support the changeover. I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all of them for their hard work, in support of the school, over the years.

Thank you to everyone who came along to their Easter bingo session earlier this week with massive amounts of chocolate being won – and eaten!

After School Clubs

We have a number of new clubs starting next term and have a few places remaining for Chess, RuggerEds and Street Beat. These can still be booked via Parent Mail 2, in the Shop Section. We would ask that Parent ensure they inform school if their child is not able to attend a club session that they are booked into. Children leaving school without parental permission is a safeguarding issue and results in staff spending time ringing parents to ensure pupils are safe and accounted for.

We would also ask that parents ensure their children are collected promptly at the end of the session – thank you

Curriculum Letters

Curriculum letters are in the process of being sent out by teachers. These outline the topics and subject areas that will be covered during the Summer Term.

Special Leave in Term Time

We would like to thank parents for following the correct procedures when making the decision to take children out of school for exceptional circumstances. The Special Leave Form is required as a means of informing the school of your intensions and seeking authorisation. Without this any absence may be classed as truancy and a referral will be made to the EWO. If we suspect a holiday has been taken, and the child has been rung in sick, then medical evidence will need to be provided.

Registers are regularly checked and patterns of attendance monitored e.g. absences leading up to school holidays or days when siblings are absent at the same time. Please can we remind you that it is parent’s responsibility to inform the school office on the first day of a child being absent due to sickness.

We are also keen to encourage punctuality and this is monitored along with absences.

Cloakroom doors open at 8.45am and are closed at 8.55am when the registers are taken.

Registers close at 9.15am, any child arriving between 8.55 – 9.15am are recorded as late but will receive an attendance mark.

Those arriving after 9.15am will receive an absent mark.

Dinner Money

Thank you to everyone using the cashless payment system for meals. Please could we remind parents that dinners should be paid for in advance. The link to the North Lincs Payment Page is now available on the homepage of the school website. Please contact the office staff if you have any difficulties with this system.

What’s been happening in school.

Well done to all of our Y3 & 4 pupils for their fantastic production - Easter Praise. The production was held in church last night for parents and repeated for the rest of the school as part of our Easter service this morning. My thanks go to the children and all the staff involved for all their hard work.

Y5 – Buddy Conference

A small group of Year 5 pupils attended a Buddy conference with other pupils in Scunthorpe. They have come back with lots of good ideas that they are keen to try out. Year 5 will begin their Buddy training, in preparation for their Y6 roles, next term.

Forth Coming Events

School reopens on Tuesday 12th April, with Nursery reopening on Wednesday 13th April.

Class Photos are being taken on Thursday 14th April. Nursery pupils not normally in school on that day are invited to pop into school at 9.30am to be part of the photograph. Pupils attending in the afternoon will be able to have their photos taken then.

Don’t Forget – the calendar on the school website is constantly being updated with dates and events including school holidays.

I hope you all have a great Easter break and we look forward to a successful Summer Term.

With regards

Sarah Groves
