LIONS CLUB OF CARRARA

SMALL GRANTS PROGRAM GUIDELINES

Background

Every year since its establishment in 2010, Carrara Lions Club has made donations to a wide range of charitable organisations and individuals in need.

The Club invites local residents, schools and non-profit organisations to apply for small grants that will make a difference in the life of a local individual or a disadvantaged community.

Available Funding

Grants would generally be a maximum of $1,000.Payment will be direct to a supplier to purchase equipment or other needed item.

Objective

The small grants program focuses on health, social and educational benefits to the community. The primary objective is to support those in need, including:

Children;

Youth;

Older people;

Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders;

Culturally and linguistically diverse individuals; and

People with a disability.

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

located in or primarily deliver services in the vicinity of the Carrara / central Gold Coast community;

an individual or family or an incorporated not-for-profit entity.

Selection Criteria

Proposals for projects/ causes must:

Demonstrate health, social or educational benefits to a disadvantaged individual or target group in the community;

Include clear, achievable goals;

Be based on principles of equity; and

Meet a need that cannot be funded from another source.

Preference will be given to applicants who have not been previously given a grant by the Club. Individuals/organisations are only able to submit one application per year.

Responsibilities of grant recipients

Successful grant applicants agree to:

Use the grant for the purpose stated in the application;

Ensure the grant funds are fully expended within six months of receipt;

Provide evidence of expenditure to the Lions Club of Carrara.

Acknowledge the support provided by Lions Club of Carrara for any resulting publicity.

Allow the Lions Club of Carrara to use grant related information for any media or promotional purposes (unless an exemption has been granted by the Club).

Application Process

Applicants must complete and submit theapplication form.

Please feel free to attach additional information if it supports your request.

Assessment Process

Club members will assess project proposals in relation to objectives and anticipated outcomes in accordancewith program criteria.

After the Club has made a decision, applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application within three months of submission.

The application must include sufficient information about the proposed project or initiative to justify grant funds being allocated. Bear in mind that his is a competitive process and it is anticipated that more applications will be received than can be funded.

Each application needs to include the contact details of a nominated person. This enables us where necessary to clarify details or seek additional information during the assessment process.
