District II Summer IAVAT Workshop at Joliet Jr. College

This year the District II workshop will consist of two workshops for one day each. Please sign up for either Horticulture or Veterinary Technology.

Limited to first 15 participants for each workshop ((30 total))

Noon to 1:00pm Dinner
1:00pm to 2:30pm Session Two
2:45pm-4:00pm Session Three
Topics covered in Vet Tech include:Topics covered in Horticulture include:
- Microscopy (using a microscope)* Floral design
- Hematology (blood smears)* Interiorscaping
- Parasitology (parasites)* Making Fall Planters
- Cytology (structure and function of cells)
- Fecal Analysis
- Basic Anatomy
Both workshops will be hands on activities that will supply teachers with knowledge and lots of take home resources
Veterinary Technology will be managed by Dr. Wally Stein DVM and JJC Vet Tech. instructor. Participants will take home bound lesson plans that are used by Dr. Stein, Veterinary Science CD with lesson plans ($60.00 value), slides and materials used in class, and information on resources to purchase. The Vet Tech workshop lessons can easily be used to expand your BSAA curriculum or help you on your way to teach Vet Tech at your high scool.
Horticulture will be managed by Mrs. Donna Theimer JJC Horticulture Teacher, other presentations by industry experts on interior design. Participants will receive floral design techniques, Floral Design CD, Interiorscaping kit, as well as interior plants to use in their greenhouse. This is a great way to spruce up for horticulture curriculum year around.
