Parents As Partners
Policies
At our committee meeting this week we adopted a new policy entitled Prevent Duty and British Values – a copy of which has been placed on the parents’ noticeboard in the foyer. Please take the time to read the policy and refresh yourself with all the other preschool policies on the CD given to you when you joined the preschool.
Makaton
Over the next few weeks we intend to introduce more Makaton in the preschool – through register, snack, singing and general conversation.
Makaton is an aid to speech which is easy for young children to learn. We will be placing some signs in the foyer for you to have a look at and perhaps some parents may wish to begin using with their children at home. The idea is to use the sign and say the word together. The child learns the sign and can gain confidence in being understood and then begin to use the word.
Simple ones to start. If you want to chat about using Makaton please speak to your keyperson or any staff member.
_Safeguarding - Reporting Absences
If your child is to be absent for any reason; sickness, holiday, an appointment (yourself or your child), visiting family etc. can you please ring or let us know beforehand. This request is in line with best practice safeguarding guidelines and Ofsted recommendations.
Questionnaire
We recently issued a questionnaire to all our September starters. We have now received a number back and all were very positive. / Sickness
If your child has experienced sickness or diarrhoea they may not return to Pre-school until they have been symptom free for 48 hrs under Ofsted guidelines.
If your child has a temperature or is unwell enoughto require “Calpol” please do not bring them into preschool.
Children’s bags
Please do not leave anything in bags that children should NOT have, eg. creams, medication etc. The bags are accessible for all children and some children have the same bags. You may think your child knows what the item is for but other children may not and take it orally.
Summer Weather
Hopefully over the next few weeks the weather will improve and we will see some sun. With this in mind, can you please remember to apply suncream to your child before sending to preschool. The large trees which gave our outside area some shade have been cut back and this area gets the sun by late morning.
Also please continue to send your children in appropriate footwear – not open-toe sandals or crocs. Thank you.
Sainsbury’s Vouchers.
Please remember to save your vouchers and post in our box.
