Important Information for the 2007 – 2008 Rodeo Season

General Information

* All rodeos begin at 10:00 am.

* NHSRA dress code is required.

* For your convenience, each member has a folder that will be at every rodeo. All required correspondence as well as entry forms and fees can be left here for the secretary.

Membership Forms and Dues

* Membership forms must be signed and filled out completely. Both parents must sign the front and back of the membership form and it must be notarized. Without the appropriate signatures, your membership form will not be accepted and you will not be allowed to compete.

* If at all possible, please mail your membership form and dues in prior to the rodeo you first enter. If you copy a membership form for someone, it can only be on one piece of paper.

* You must include a copy of your birth certificate and last year’s (fully completed) transcript or report card.

* If you are a new out of state transfer contestant, you are required to complete the out of state transfer form. BOTH States’ National Directors must approve it.

Entries

* Entry forms and payment may be left in your folder for the next rodeo. Payment must accompany the form or you will have to pay the late fee.

* All entry fees will be deposited to the Region IV bank account on the Tuesday following the rodeo. This means that rodeo entries paid in advance will be deposited prior to the next rodeo.

* All rodeo entries will be made to Lindy Baker, rodeo secretary, 151 Lexington, TerrellTX 75160. The call in number will be 217-538-3202.

* Mail-in entries must be postmarked by the Monday two weeks prior to the rodeo.

* ALL call-in entries result in a late charge of $25.00. You may call in for the rodeo on Monday prior to the rodeo.

* ALL medical turnouts must be called in to the secretary, or the secretary must be notified at least 2 hours prior to the performance. If you fail to do so, your money will not be refunded.

* ALL veterinary turnouts must be called into the secretary prior to the performance. In an instance that a horse is hurt on the way to the rodeo or at the rodeo, you must find the event director in which the horse will be competing to check the horse before a veterinary turn out will be granted. If you fail to do so, your money will not be refunded.

* OfficialSchool Personnel (Superintendent, Principal or Counselor) must sign all entry forms.

Region IV Ad Program Sales

* EVERYONE MUST SELL AT LEAST ONE $50.00 AD FOR THE REGION IV FINALS PROGRAM.

* If a member should sellmore the required $50.00 ad, he/she will receive 25% commission of the amount sold over the required $50.00.

* The deadline for the first $50.00 is due on or before October 28th, Rodeo #3. Your ad must be paid for before you compete at this rodeo.

State Ad Program Sales

* EVERY MEMBER MUST SELL AT LEAST ONE AD FOR THE STATE FINALS PROGRAM to ensure that every contestant will be eligible to receive an award at the State Finals.

*Each member must sell a minimum of $50.00 in advertising or sponsorship.

*If a member sells an ad or sponsorship that is more than $50.00, both the member and the region will receive a commission on the amount over the first $50.00. The region will get 20% and the contestant will get 30%.

*The deadline for ALL MEMBERS to sell the initial $50.00 ad for the State Finals Program is October 28th, Rodeo #3.

DodgeTicket Sales

*Every High School member is required to sell a minimum of 15 raffle tickets.

*Tickets will be $5.00 each.

*Tickets may only be sold by THSRA members or persons authorized by the THSRA.

*For every 5 tickets that a THSRA member sells, they will receive 1 free ticket.

*The top seller of Region IV will receive a cash prize. At least 50 tickets must be sold to qualify.

*The raffle may not be prompted through paid advertising.

*The raffle drawing will be held at the THSRA State Finals in June.

*The raffle winner will be responsible for all the vehicle tax, title, license and transfer costsand all other taxes including income tax.

*The first 15 tickets MUST be turned in by November 4th, Rodeo #4.

Cuttings

* Cuttings will be held at Rodeo # 4 on November 4th, Rodeo #9 on February 17th and March 22, which is the Saturday morning of the Finals. More information will be available at Rodeo #1.

Rough Stock

* All rough stock events will be held at Rodeos #1, #3, #5, #7 and #9. All rough stock will be at the beginning and end (after team roping) of the above listed rodeos. The order of events will be: Bareback, Bulls and Saddle Bronc.

Payout

* Payout checks for the rodeo will be mailed on the Monday following the rodeo. We will not be paying out at the rodeo this year.

Awards

* ALL contestants must enter 6 out of 10 regular season rodeos to be eligible for year-end prizes.

* In order to award a saddle in any event there must be an average of at least 5 contestants in the first five rodeos. If an event does not meet this requirement anyone can get a saddle donated for that event.

Gate Fee

* There will be a $10.00 gate fee on each entry. If you have two children you will pay $10.00 on the first entry and $5.00 on the second entry. If you have three or more children you will pay $10.00 on the first entry, $5.00 on the second entry and $0 on the other entries.

Student Officers

* If you are interested in being a Region IV student officer, please fill out & sign the enclosed form. The deadline to sign up will be the membership rodeo or you can mail to me by September 3. There will be a ballot at Rodeo #1 for all members to come by the office and pick up. You must turn your ballot in that day. The votes will be counted and the elected student officers will be notified before Rodeo #2.
