AirVU ANSI-VT ™
OVERVIEW
AirVU ANSI VT-220 is a member of the AirAWARE™ family of connectivity solutions for mobile computers. AirVU products provide quick, easy solutions for adding wireless mobile computers to existing applications. With AirVU, this can be accomplished without developing custom software or modifying existing applications.
AirVU products utilize the industry standard TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) to communicate to host systems connected to an Ethernet™ or Token Ring LAN and provide full terminal emulation functionality for both wireless key-based and pen-based mobile computers.
PRODUCT POSITIONING
AirVU ANSI is an ideal solution for providing basic wireless VT-220 mobile computer access to host applications over a TCP/IP connection.
KEY FEATURES
· Supports ANSI VT-220 terminal emulation
· VT-220 using 7- or 8-bit data controls
· VT-100
· Supports ANSI escape sequences
· Supports special graphic characters
OPEN SYSTEMS CONNECTIVITY
Wireless connectivity to the LAN is implemented through access points. Each AirVU mobile computer has a unique Internet Protocol (IP) address. Data transmits over the wireless link to the access point encapsulated in standard TCP/IP frames. The access point acts as a wireless hub and passively transfers messages between the wireless network and wired LAN for exchange with a Telnet session on a LAN connected host system. Each wireless mobile computer in the system appears as a computer node on the LAN.
