NAMING OF STREETS
DEVELOPMENT OFF WINCHESTER ROAD, FAIR OAK
Report of the Head of Transportation and Engineering
RECOMMENDATIONIt is recommended that the names:Brendon Gardens, Chiltern Crescent, Delamere Gardens, Kinver Crescent,Malvern Close andSavernake Way be approved as names for new streets off Winchester Road,Fair Oak.
Summary
The report recommends street names on a new housing development.
Statutory Powers
Town Improvement Clauses Act 1847, Section 65 and Public Health Act, 1925, Section 19 and Local Government Act 1972, Section 111.
Introduction
- Work has commenced on construction of a new housing development off Winchester Road, Fair Oak.
- The street namesBrendon Gardens, Chiltern Crescent, Delamere Gardens, Kinver Crescent, Malvern Closeand Savernake Way have been proposed for the development.
- The names follow the theme of hill ranges and forests as the site is located on a hill ridge with forestry woodland near to the site.
Consultation
- Fair Oak Parish Council suggested the street names theme of hill ranges and forests.
- Bloor Homes and Linden Homes have raised no objections to the names and proposed them for use in naming their new streets.
- Royal Mail and local Borough Councillors have also raised no objections.
Financial Implications
- The new nameplates would be provided and erected initially by the developer and when the roads are adopted future maintenance and replacement costs would be funded by the Local Area Committee devolved budget for street nameplates.

- An equal opportunities assessment has not been carried out because the report does not contain proposalsfor significant changes toexisting services, policies or strategies and does not introduce any new services, policies or strategies.
Conclusion
- It is recommended that the street names Brendon Gardens, Chiltern Crescent, Delamere Gardens, Kinver Crescent, Malvern Closeand Savernake Way are approved.
