PROJECT CONCEPT NOTE

FOR 2018 LIFE APPLICATIONS

It is important to note that this is JNCC’s concept note template and it is NOT the same as the LIFE programme’s concept note which is required for LIFE Environment projects submitted within the 2018 Call.

NB. LIFE Climate projects are NOT required to submit a concept note in the 2018 Call. JNCC has kept its own concept note template as the LIFE programme’s concept note is yet to be published.

This concept note is designed to help applicants compose a basic project structure for an EU LIFE application before writing a full proposal to the European Commission. It is the first stage in writing a LIFE application and helps frame the context of the project. It should be as quantifiable and specific as possible. The concept note can help you identify partners depending on the desired outcomes, scope, cost and duration of the project.

The concept note not only helps you frame your thinking but can also assists us in evaluating the eligibility of your proposal or point you towards a more suitable funding programme. You can also use this to share with potential partners and to support other pieces of work such as compiling an internal business case etc.

Before filling in the form it is essential to read the:

·  LIFE Multi-Annual Work Programme for 2018- 2020

Please also see our Guidance document which should help you with filling in this concept note.

You may not be able to complete all of the sections now but thinking about your project in terms of EU added value, transferability, replicability and sustainability as early as possible will help you develop a stronger project and application.

Concept notes for projects can be submitted at any time to the UK’s National Contact Point for LIFE funding at or for more LIFE information visit www.JNCC.gov.uk/UKLIFE.

If you have already completed a Logical Framework please include this with your concept note.

Once complete, please email this form to
