MEDWAY TOWNS MUSIC CENTRE HOLDS SPRING CONCERT
Musicians of all ages who attend Medway Towns Music Centre gave a spring concert for friends and familyat FortPittSchool, Fort Pitt Hill, Chatham.
Medway Towns Music Centre is the largest in Kent comprising more than 250 members in 30 ensembles meeting weekly to learn and practise a wide variety of musical styles and instruments.
The line-up for the concert included performances by Senior Brass,All Clarinets, Intermediate Strings, Senior Flutes, Concert Band, Adult Recorders, All Saxophones, Senior Recorders and the Concert Orchestra.
Phill Hyde, who manages the music centre for Kent Music, said: “This concert marked the fruit of 10 weeks of practice in which people of all ages and abilities worked together to create wonderful music as a community. We’re always delighted to welcome new members – it is never too late to begin or perhaps to renew your musical journey.”
The centre offers a wide variety of lessons and group music sessions. Musicians of all abilities can brush up on their theory, play in groups and improve their skills on a variety of instruments including clarinet, saxophone, flute, recorder, violin, viola, electric guitar, classical guitar, brass instruments, percussion, piano and electronic keyboards.
Sessions are held at Rochester Grammar School for Girls on Thursday evenings and at Fort Pitt School on Saturday mornings during school term time. Find out more about Kent’s local music centres at
