E-bot and E-bot ADV Firmware Upgrade Manual for v1.3.0

ThismanualintroducesFirmwareupgradeandTTSdataupgrade. The firmware upgrade is necessary. The TTS data upgrade is not necessary if the version ofE-bot is v1.1.0 or later, or if TTS data is alreadyupgraded.

***Your AC adapter must be connected to the E-bot. Do Not power off the E-botwhile the upgrade isin progress.

Step1:Download the files from theweb

Step 1: Download the Files from theWeb

  • Click on the link below:

  • Unzip the files and you will see two folders. (Picture1)

There will be (2) files located in each Upgrade Folder. (Picture 2 and 3)

Step 2: First Wi-FiUpgrade

  • Connect PC and E-bot by Wi-Fi connection in order to begin the 1stWi-FiUpgrade. *Refer to pages 22 and 23 of the E-bot ADV user manual, “Connecting toa PC viaWi-Fi”.
  • **DonotconnecttheiPadViewerorAndroidViewertotheE-botviaWi-Fiwhileupgrade is inprocess.
  • Execute “Wifi_upgrade_client (EB100A).exe” file in the “1st Upgrade” folder.Then you will see the dialog box. (Picture4)

  • Click“Uploadfile”button.Thefiletransferringwillbegin. (Picture5)

  • When file transferring is finished you will see “Uploading file is finishedsuccessfully”. Click the “Exit”button. (Picture 6)

  • Aftertheuploadissuccessfullyfinished,theE-botwillproceedwiththefileunpacking internally.Itmaytakeapproximately30seconds.WhentheunpackingisfinishedtheE-bot will power off by itself.
  • Power on the E-bot. TheE-botwillstartaftertheupgradeisprocessedinternally.Itmaytakeapproximately1 minute.

Step3: Second Wi-FiUpgrade

  • Connect PC and E-bot by Wi-Fi connection in order to begin the 2ndWi-FiUpgrade. *Refer to pages 22 and 23 of the E-bot ADV user manual, “Connecting toa PC viaWi-Fi”.
  • **DonotconnecttheiPadViewerorAndroidViewertotheE-botviaWi-Fiwhileupgrade is inprocess.
  • Execute“Wifi_upgrade_client(EB100A).exe”fileinthe“2ndUpgrade” folder. IfE-bot isconnectedtoPCviaWi-Ficorrectlyyouwillseethatthe“status”is“installed”. (Picture 7)

***Note:If the “status” of some “Country” is displayed as a blank space or“Not installed”duetothemissingTTSdatafile,youmustproceedtheupgradingofTTSdata after the first and second Wi-Fiupgrade.

  • Click the “Upload file” button. The transferring of files will start. (Picture 8)

  • The file transferring may take approximately 2minutes.
  • When the file transferring is finished you will see “Uploading file isfinished successfully”. Click the “Exit”button. (Picture 9)

  • After the upload has successfully finished, the E-bot will proceed with thefile unzipping internally. It may take approximately 1 minute. When the unpacking is finished the E-bot will power off byitself.
  • Power on the E-bot. TheE-botwillstartafterthe upgradeisprocessedinternally.Itmaytakeapproximately2minutes.
  • AftertheE-botstartspress the Menu button on the wireless remote controller. Go to Options and then Information. (Picture 10)

TTS Data Upgrade

  • TTS Data Upgrade is not necessary for “E-bot” Basic model, as it does not provide OCR.
  • TTS Data Upgrade is necessary if the version of “E-bot ADV” is earlier thanv1.1.0.

Note: IfyouwanttoupgradeTTSdataregardlessoftheversion,youmaydoso.

Step1:Remove case on the E-bot ADV and connect USB OTGcable.

Step2:Connect E-bot via USBOTG.

Step3:Download the files from theweb.

Step4:Execute upgradefile.

Step 1: Disassemble the E-bot ADV

  • Remove the battery. (Pictures 11 and 12)

  • Remove the 4 screws. (Picture 13)

  • Lift the upper case. (Picture 14)

Step 2: Connect E-bot to the OTG cable

  • Connect E-bot to your PC using the USB OTG cable. Press the power buttonto turn on E-bot. (Picture 17)

  • Download the file from the link below and start.
  • Then you will see a dialogbox. (Picture18)

  • Clickthe“Install”button.Thedevicestatusshouldchangefrom“DriverIncorrectly” to “OK” when installing driver has finished. (Picture 19)

Step 3: Download the Files from theWeb

  • Download the files by clicking on the linkbelow.

  • Unzipthefile.Youwillseeonefolderandelevenfiles. (Picture 20)

Step 4: Execute Upgrade File

  • Start the “Upgrade_TTS.bat” file. You will see a dialog box. (Picture 21)
  • It will show the install status and it may take approximately 17minutes.

  • When the upgrade is finished the dialog box will closeautomatically.

  • After the TTS is finished upgrading, the E-bot will power off and restartitself.It may take approximately 1minute.
  • After TTS data upgrade is finished press the power button to turn the E-bot off.Reassemble the upper case and base plate of theE-bot.
  • Upgrades are nowcomplete.
