Committee Reports
**BEAR Club (Lisa Simodi):Mrs. Kovatch’s class won for the month of December! March 5th will begin the Captain’s Reading Program, so there will not be the traditional BEAR Club reading for the month of March.
**Box Tops(Lorene Fogle): Thanks was expressed to Danielle Marn for the legwork and efficiency with handling the box top gift card award from O’Brien Chevrolet. A wonderful deposit of $2,296.80 was made from Box Top reimbursement! WOW!!! Laura Zehner shared that there are several contests available on the Box Top website, in addition to an opportunity to earn additional Box Top points for the school by linking to common stores (Kohls, Gap, Barnes and Noble, etc) through the Box Top Market Place. Please check it out!
**Labels for Education(Teresa Bowyer): Teresa reported that if you “Like” Labels for Education on Facebook, it will earn 50 extra points for the school! She reminded us that both the UPC and the “Label Coupon” must be submitted, and that there are many brands other than Campbell’s that have the Lables for Education Coupons on them.
**Market Day (Margaret & Kennie Bentley): As Lynne Lucic will not be able to continue as a co-chair for Market Day next year, a new Co-Chair is needed to take her place.
**Character Campaign(Sam Meunier): 9 children were “caught in the act” during the month of January and their CIA coupons were added to the growing number of coupons displayed on the “CIA TEAM” wall; there were 18 students who participated in the Character Contest representing grades 1-4. The monthly theme for February is Honesty. It was decided that April’s theme of Stewardship would be changed to Teamwork, to coincide with a Captain’s program looking to award Positive Character Traits in the school.
Unfinished Business
**Skating Party:(Margaret Bentley)60 Skaters attended Mentor Skateland for earning the PTC $30. All grade levels were represented and it proved to be a great family event. We are looking into scheduling another skating party this spring.
**Parent/Child Event: (Teresa Bowyer) The Father Daughter event is going to be a Dance at Quail Hollow on 3/11. The Mother/Son Night will most likely be a bowling event.
**Incentive Programs: Unfortunately, we did not win the Clorox Grant. Thank you all for your time and participation. We are currently working on trying to win a wireless lab! This is also a daily contest, a link to the contest and answers to the questions were provided via a school wide email and information is posted on the PTC website. Thank you to Mrs. Javorek for your assistance on this endeavor.
**Teacher Appreciation Week: Volunteers are needed to coordinate this event. Teacher Appreciation runs the week of May 7th -11th.
**Winter Lottery Fundraiser: As we are not allowed to assume the tax exempt non-profit status of the district, it was suggested that we should not run a higher end fundraiser. We are hoping to gain the assistance of an attorney (possible a school parent) to help figure out the necessary information to run such a Fundraiser without getting into financial trouble.
New Business
**Captain’s Reading Program: (Lisa Simodi)The reading program will take place from March 5th- April 5th.
**Malley’s Candy Sale: (Lisa Simodi) We will be attempting an end of February Sale with Delivery at the March 14th Market Day.
**Donation for RLEEF: A majority paper ballot vote determined that our PTC would donate $100 to RLEEF. This event will be held Sunday, March 25th at the high school. In the past, this fund has provided Buckeye with a portable sound system, “Clickers” to be used with the smart-boards, and manipulatives.
**A question was asked regarding how field trip money raised by PTC was used. It was explained that PTC cuts a check to Mr. Kujala for field trip funding. Mr. Kujala then applies this money towards field trip requests.
**Future Events in need of Volunteers:
>Due to lack of a chairperson forPizza Bingo; we will not be moving forward with this event this year
>Thank you to the Bentley’s for taking over the Malley Candy Sale next year.
>Activities and Events Coordinator needed for Field Day to begin next year.
**Mark your calendar: Back by popular demand, Chick-Fil-A Spirit night will be Thursday March 29th.
Next PTC meeting will be Thursday, March 1st at 7:00 p.m.in the art/music room
Meeting adjourned at 4:31 pm
Minutes respectfully submitted by Samantha Meunier
