World Mapping Assignment

Instructions: Use the following guide to complete the map of the world on the backside of this page.

1.  Mapping Techniques:

  1. Locate all place names on the map in pencil, then go over in black ink.
  2. Locate all water bodies in pencil, then go over in blue ink. Outline or fringe the shorelines.
  3. Map must be neat.
  4. Use your atlas/textbook/online resources to ensure accuracy. Be as specific as possible when locating cities

2.  Locate the Following on Your Map:

  1. Continents: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia. Draw an arrow to indicate the direction of Antarctica. (Black ink)
  1. Oceans: Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Arctic, Southern. (Blue ink)
  1. Rivers: North America – Mackenzie, St. Lawrence, Fraser, Mississippi, Missouri, Rio Grande

South America – Amazon, Parana

Europe – Danube, Rhine, Volga

Asia – Yangtze, Huang He, Amur, Mekong, Euphrates, Indus, Ganges, Ob, Lena, Yenisey

Africa – Nile, Congo, Niger, Zambezi

Australia – Murray
