“SHORT LIST OF PLAYERS ANNOUNCED FOR ONTARIO’S
UNDER 17 HOCKEY TEAM”
TORONTO - Team Ontario Director of Operations, Mike Futatoday announced the short list of forty-three (43) players who will be further evaluated for the 2006-07 Ontario Under 17 Team.
These players were among the eighty-four players from across the province who attended the Provincial Under 17 Identification Camp held at the University of Guelph from June 27th– 29th, 2006.
“The process of narrowing the numbers down was not an easy task. Fortunately, we as a staff, had significant insight from our guest coaching staffs as to how the athletes were adapting and competing throughout the camp, enabling us to move forward in the process of selecting Team Ontario. All of the young men should be very proud of their efforts and we wish all parties a very healthy, hard working summer” stated Mike Futa. “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of the Ontario Hockey Federation, the University of Guelph and Gryph’s Lounge for their tremendous hospitality during the Provincial camp.”
The forty-three identified players will continue to be monitored by Futa, Head Coach Marty Williamson, and Assistant Coaches Jason Brooks and Paul Titanic. The team that is selected will be representing the province at the 2007 Canada Winter Games inWhitehorse, Yukon from February 25 – March 3, 2007.
The Hockey Development Centre for Ontario (HDCO) facilitates the Men’s Under-17 hockey program on behalf of the 3 Ontario Branches of Hockey Canada.
