The post is funded for 1 year. Any extension is subject to further funding being secured.
Hours of work /
  • 24 hours/week hours – usually over 4 X 6 hour days between hours of 9.00 and 3.30 with 30 minutes unpaid lunch break
  • Occasional attendance at evening meetings may be required for which Time Off in Lieu will be given

Main Purpose of job /
  • The post exists to ensure the project succeeds in attracting individuals and groups to well-planned and well delivered opportunities to acquire money management techniques and understand the benefits of membership of Salford Credit Union
  • The post holder will work with the current team, will support project users and will develop the programme with partner organisations.
  • Engagement will be delivered at a range of community venues across Salford.
  • The post will contribute to more residents taking part in developing financial resilience opportunities including Credit Union membership

b) Liaison withother Credit Union staff and the Volunteer Coordinator

The post holder must at all times carry out his/her responsibilities within the spirit of Salford Credit Union Ltd policies and within the framework of the legislation and regulations governing credit unions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. To promote and encourage participation in money management techniques to improve financial resilience
  2. To promote the benefits of Credit Union membership and the work of local partners in the planning and delivery of local money management opportunities
  3. To help establish a new Credit Union service point in the community
  4. To develop a resource pack to enable future training and outreach by Credit Union volunteers and staff
  5. To devise and maintain appropriate records and reports on progress, outputs and outcomes of the project
  6. To represent the views and barriers facing individuals in any planning or review activity conducted by Salford Credit Union
  7. To have full regard to Salford Credit Unions policies and procedures, including Equal Opportunities and Health & Safety policies. To act sensitively in all contacts with the public but particularly with disadvantaged individuals and groups

MAIN TASKS

  1. Liaise with key stakeholders to identify group and community settings for delivery of simple money management messages and devise an engagement programme.
  2. Develop and implement a training programme with appropriate materials, for these groups, to promote money management skills, including introduction to Salford Credit Union
  3. Engage with existing Credit Union volunteers and staff and provide training to enable dissemination of key money management messages amongst the wider community
  4. Support the Credit Union Volunteer co-ordinator in establishing a new local service point to increase access to services and support the training of new volunteers to staff this service point.
  5. To devise a project monitoring and evaluation framework, using IT for statistical recording, record keeping and document production; produce progress and evaluation reports and make presentations on progress to Credit Union management and Board
  6. Develop a resource pack of interested community groups, money management messages, training programme and evaluation framework so that the work can be sustained.

GENERAL

  1. The Credit Union delivers its services from two main sites and via a number of weekly local service points and the post holder may be asked to work from any of these locations or a new location within the Credit Union common bond which covers all of Salford and specific parts of North Manchester.
  2. The post holder will need to attend regular staff meetings and attend training and development opportunities.
  3. They will work alongside other officers, volunteers and Directors to achieve required tasks
  4. The post holder will be required to ensure that all duties and responsibilities are carried out in accordance with the Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety policies and procedures of Salford Credit Union Ltd.
  5. Because of the nature of the role (including working with some schools), the successful candidate will be required to undertake a credit check and Disclosure and Barring Service check.
  6. Duties and tasks may change and develop as the demand on the Project and local needs change.
