Title:CorporatePartnerships Officer – 12 months contract

Overall purpose of the position

  • Researching new business opportunities with a focus on the ophthalmic and / or aviation sectors
  • Managing existing low to mid-level corporate partners with a current gift value of up to £5,000
  • Leading on corporate communications
  • Manage corporate partnership administration including gift processing, thanking and data management.
  • Strengthening the corporate function with the overall objective of increasing fundraising income of the team

Main responsibilities

Relationship management

  • Manage relationships with low and mid-level existing corporate supporters through the development of a stewardship plan and individual company relationship plans. Produce reports and donor correspondence, ensuring provision of appropriate and timely feedback on use of donation as required for account portfolio.
  • Lead on the corporate communication plan and collateral working closely with the communications team.
  • Develop a productive working relationship with other members of the fundraising team and colleagues both in London and across the organisation globally to foster effective team working.
  • Support corporate involvement in the Flying Eye Hospital European Tour in March 2017.
  • Assist with event management as required within the fundraising team, including support for the visit of the Flying Eye Hospital.
  • Manage volunteers as required for corporate team activity.

New business development

  • Conduct research to include:
  • Research aviation and / or ophthalmic sectors in the UK to identify prospects
  • Complete in depth research on target companies with corporate and CSR information
  • Lead on interrogation of existing data on Raiser’s Edge to inform prospecting
  • Plan, develop and write a range of fundraising propositions, products and techniques for new corporate supporters in identified sectors.
  • Write and attend presentations for mid-level new business and if converted, implement strategy for maintenance and retention.

Information management

  • Maintain accurate and organised information to ensure effective performance, individually and for the team.
  • Update and maintain Raiser’s Edge on all relevant aspects of donor and event information
  • Understand and interpret Orbis internal monitoring and evaluation reports and systems

Professional knowledge

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the issues relating to Orbis’s work in order to communicate these effectively to internal and external audiences.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of all programmes, with particular emphasis on elements aligned to focus sectors and become a specialist on programmes in Ethiopia.
  • Remain informed about current corporate–charity partnerships, developments and innovations.
  • Keep up to date with legislation and other issues relating to corporate fundraising.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the issues relating to Orbis’s work in order to better understand how INGO’s work in development.
  • Continue to develop the knowledge and skills required to fulfil the responsibilities of the position.
  • Occasional travel abroad may be necessary.

Internally

  • Predominantly with the Corporate and wider Fundraising & Communications team
  • Regular contact with Business Support and Finance teams.

Externally

  • Externally – Company donors, high net worth donors, Trustees & Orbis volunteers.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a relationship manager role, ideally in a charity.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to adhere to deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Presentation and public speaking skills.
  • An articulate and persuasive communicator.
  • Good computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office

Desirable

  • Knowledge, understanding and passion for working in international development.
  • Experience of corporate fundraising.
  • Experience of Raiser’s Edge fundraising database.
  • Educated to degree level but not essential if proven experience in sector.
