Additional Resources

Most Search Engines have a ticker symbol look-up feature. One of the easiest to use is found on the Yahoo site at: http//finance.yahoo.com/ . You will see a section at the top under Today in Finance that looks like the following:

Bottom of Form / Enter Symbol(s): e.g. YHOO, ^DJI / / Symbol Lookup | Finance Search
Bottom of Form
  • Click on Symbol Lookup
  • Enter the name of the company in which you are interested.
  • Click on Look Up .

A site that will help you to determine the parent company of a company in which you are interested is Columbia Journalism Review

  • Go to
  • Click on Who Owns What
  • Locate a parent company and click on the name to display a list of the companies it owns.
