Dear Parents and Carers,
Spelling in the New National Curriculum
Children in Year 6 are following the New National Curriculum 2014. This contains a series of word lists which the government hopes all children should be able to spell bythe end of their time at Primary School.
Here at Newdale we have broken these word lists into more manageable chunks to learn each half term. Please note that this is in addition to the children’s weekly spellings where children learn about particular spelling rules.
On the back of this page, we have listed these words. You will see that we do not have any words from the list to learn in the second half term of summer, this is because the children will have completed their Spelling SAT test by this time.
If you would like to work on helping your child practise these spelling at home, it would be gratefully appreciated.
Yours sincerely,
Miss Hashemi Mrs Thomas
