Senior Lecturer in Respiratory Practice

Job description

Accountable to: Director of Education

Job purpose:

To ensure high qualityteaching and learning and demonstrate a commitment to enhancing the overall experience for students undertaking postgraduate studies.

The post holder will take the role of Programme Lead for the MSc Respiratory Practice accredited by the University of Hertfordshire

TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To be responsible for the quality of face to face teaching on the programme, providing expert resource for the team ofstaff who contribute to modules and teaching
  • To keep up to date with learning and teaching and the dissemination of sector best practice, developing new teaching methods and incorporating into programme design
  • To be responsible for the educational quality of the programme online delivery, working closely with the technology enhanced learning team to ensure appropriate teaching and learning theories underpin development of learning materials and that the approach is continuously evaluated and enhanced
  • To be responsible for the programme research and dissertation modules, reviewing course content and materials and developing, designing and updating materials as appropriate

RESEARCH AND SCHOLARLY ACTIVITY RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • To contribute to the Charity’s scholarly activity and collaborative research activities
  • To demonstrate an excellent awareness of research and knowledge in respiratory practice and ensure it is incorporated in teaching and learning
  • To attend appropriate conferences for the purposes of disseminating research results and for personal development
  • To sustain and develop professional expertise and maintain registration
  • To continue to update knowledge and apply to teaching and scholarly activity

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To ensure that theprogramme is academically coherent,responsive to market need and informed by clinical, professional and policy developments
  • To ensure that learning outcomes are clear and appropriate for the level of award
  • To ensure the overall assessment requirements allow the achievement of learning outcomes to be assessed and formative feedback to be provided
  • Undertake programme reviews in accordance with collaborative partner policy overseeing analysis and response to student feedback and External Examiner reports
  • To report on student performance, providing annual monitoring information to the Executive Team, Trustees and the partner university
  • To ensure excellent levels of academic and pastoral support for students
  • To ensure that the evaluation of modules programmes and student satisfaction is managed effectively
  • To ensure that the organisation’s student engagement model is implemented effectively across the programme
  • To ensure that the organisation’s policy of patient engagement in teaching and learning is implemented effectively across the programme
  • To ensure that the organisation’s teaching and learning strategy and underpinning action plans for the programme are implemented

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBIITIES:

  • To manage the postgraduate programme, providing specialist academic and programme support as necessary, in accordance with relevant QAA standards and processes.
  • To oversee the work of the programme administrators to ensure that all programme documentation is accurate and consistent and provided in a timely way to students
  • To attend and contribute to relevant meetings internally and externally
  • To chair moderation boards as appropriate
  • To chair relevant Quality Assurance Committees to ensure cross programme enhancement by proposing changes to education systems and processes to reflect current and future requirements and best educational practice.
  • To work with the Programme Administrator to ensure a smooth transition of students between programmes resulting from any changes to the accrediting body or programmes.
  • To work with the wider organisation to assist in the project management of business projects as appropriate.
  • To work with the regional team to support the recruitment and selection of students to meet agreed targets

Qualifications and Qualities needed:

Essential

  • Higher degree in related field
  • Doctoral level of study(or working towards)
  • Recognised Teaching Qualification (or working towards)
  • Relevant Health Professional qualification
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of respiratory practice
  • Demonstrable evidence of research and scholarly activity
  • Evidence of administrative /organisational skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and under pressure

Desirable

  • Experience of supporting online learning desirable
  • Senior Lecturer Experience desirable
  • Experience of working in a leadership role, preferably in an HEI environment

Working conditions and benefits:

Fixed term contract for two years

Pension scheme with 6% employer contribution

Salary up to £50kpro rata for exceptional candidate

Hours negotiable and flexible (3 – 4 days per week)with at least two days a weekspent in Warwick
