JOB DESCRIPTION
MINI BUS DRIVER

ACCOUNTABLE TO:School Business Manager

ACCOUNTABLE FOR:Driving St Edmund’s School vehicles in a responsible and competent manner and ensure the safety of the passengers.

LOCATION:The vehicle is based at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Deal

HOURS OF WORK:Part-time, term time only

38 weeks, 15 hours per week – Monday to Friday

PAY:Kent Range 3

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Driving a St Edmund’s School minibus in accordance with the highway code.
-Responsibility for the health and safety, comfort and welfare of pupils and staff throughout the journey, ensuring all passengers have their bags and equipment secured and seatbelt fastened.
-Daily and weekly vehicle checks, and to carry out basic maintenance.
-Reporting any vehicle defects, faults, incidents and accidents
-Ensuring the vehicle is in a clean and roadworthy condition before and after use.
-Refuelling vehicles as required.
-Covering for absent colleagues.
-Maintaining company image; working attire should be worn at all times and kept in a clean and tidy condition.
-Working within health and safety guidelines and other guidelines that may be issued from time-to-time.
-Working within the constraints and guidelines as set out in the Minibus Drivers’ Operating Instructions.
-Undertaking any associated duties as required by the manager.
-Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
All appointments are subject to a satisfactory Enhanced check from the Disclosure and Barring Service and check against the ISA barred list for children.
Training
-Attending relevant training courses asidentified and agreed

Essential Requirements
Essential / -Hold a current, clean and valid driving licence D1 unrestricted or a PCV licence or D1 restricted (car licence obtained prior to 01/01/1997).
-Experience of driving a large vehicle
-Reliable and trustworthy
-Flexible approach to working arrangement
-Age 25+ (for insurance purposes).
-Ability to maintain accurate vehicle and user records.
-Competent to undertake daily and weekly vehicle checks and carry out basic maintenance.
Knowledge and Skills / -Experience of working in a similar position.
-Pleasant, patient and helpful personality.
-An ability to communicate with a range of people
-Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
-Sensitivity to user needs.
-Willing to undertake training as appropriate.
Personal Qualities / -Well presented.
-Able to communicate with people from all cultures and backgrounds.
-Approachable with calm nature.
Desirable / -PCV Licence Holder.
-Geographical knowledge of East Kent.
