Caring for the Children We Share

Effective schools are the result of students, families, and school staff working togetherto share the responsibility for the children’s learning.

At a Title I Parent Partnership Collaborative held on September 9-10, 2015, staff and parents worked together to review/revise our Home-School Compact. Those that were not able to attend were offered materials to provide feedback about the School-Wide Home-School Compact.

This partnership agreement encourages the children we share to

become lifelong learners and responsible citizens.

Compact Legislation

Section 1118(d) (Parental Involvement) of

Elementary and Secondary Education Act,

"Shared Responsibilities for High Student Performance":

"...Each school served under [Title 1, Part A] shall jointly develop with parents for all children served... a school-parent compact that outlines how parents, the entire school staff, and students will share the responsibility for improved student achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership.

The Robert Moton Elementary School will:

  1. Provide high quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and

effective learning environment that enable students to meet the State’s

student academic achievement standard as follows:

  • Respect and value the uniqueness of each student.
  • Recognize student achievement and improvement.
  • Provide information to parents and students about academic progress andbehavior.
  • Teachers will differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
  • Teachers will collaborate and plan instructional programs for students.
  • Title I may offer supplemental instruction and/or extended year opportunities in order to provide effective accelerated instruction to selected students based upon academic need.
  • Consistent implementation of data driven targeted learning goals for individual students and groups of students.
  1. Hold parent-teacher conferences (at least annually in elementary schools).

Specifically, those conferences will be held:

  • Oct. 8, 2015
  • Nov. 24, 2015
  • Feb. 11, 2016
  • Apr. 6, 2016

3. Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress.

Specifically, the school will provide quarterly interim reports and quarterly

progress reports as follows:

  1. Provide parents reasonable access to staff.

Parents can reach staff members by:

  • School telephone (410-751-3610) between 7:55 a.m. and 3:25 p.m.
  • E-mail (each staff member’s address is listed on the school’s website )
  • Scheduling a parent-teacher conference

5. Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their

child’s class, and to observe classroom activities, as follows:

  • Parents will be encouraged to volunteer at school after completing Carroll County

Public Schools volunteer training.

  • Carroll County Public Schools has an open door policy for families. Families will bewelcome

at school. Classroom visitation as per CCPS guidelines.


Send my child to school daily and on time, rested and with school supplies.

Support School rules..
Monitor my child’s attendance.
Make sure that homework is completed.
Volunteer in my child’s classroom when possible.
Help make decisions about my child’s education.
Stay informed about my child’s education and communicate with the school by promptly reading the communication/agenda book and all notices from the school or the school district either received by my child or by mail and respond as appropriate.
Attend/participate in at least one parent/teacher conference per year.

Attend/participate in at least one school event per year.
Provide time for independent reading and reading with/to parent or sibling.
