Stand Up, Speak Up Contract

Consequences for infractions of behavioral expectations relating to Coeur d’Alene School Board Policy 3295 “Prohibition against Student Harassment, Intimidation, Bullying and Cyber Bullying” will follow this procedure. Consequences for more serious behaviors may proceed directly to Step 3 or Step 4.*

Step 1: Sent to Principal or Administrative Designee, First Time — School “Anti-Bullying” expectations and Board Policy 3295 are reviewed and emphasized. Student and principal signatures on this form are required. Hold conflict resolution and problem-solving conference with student. Appropriate disciplinary action is taken and documented. Student contacts parent with the principal present. Student and parent are informed of Steps 2 - 4; principal calls “targeted” student’s parent to report incident.

Step 2: Sent to Principal or Administrative Designee, Second Time — Conference required with the student, parent, teacher, and principal. School Board Policy 3295 is reviewed and emphasized. Parent and teacher signatures on this form are required. Appropriate disciplinary action is taken and documented. Student and parent are informed of Steps 3 - 4; Principal calls “targeted” student’s parent to report incident.

Step 3: Sent to Principal or Administrative Designee, Third Time — In-school suspension discipline is documented. Student contacts parent with principal present. Student and parent are informed of Step 4. If a student retaliates against a student who made a bullying report, he or she immediately goes to this step 3; principal calls “targeted” student’s parents to report incident.

Step 4: Sent to Principal or Administrative Designee, Fourth Time — Parent is required to pick up student and remove from school. Short-term suspension, long-term suspension, or expulsion required. Discipline is documented. Principal contacts “targeted” student’s parents to report incident.

*According to Coeur d’Alene School Board policy 3295, “…if the school principal reasonably believes that the student has engaged in conduct in violation of Idaho Code 18-917A, she/he shall report to law enforcement. Further, any incident of harassment, intimidation, bullying, or cyberbullying will be documented in the student information system.”
