First of all, thanks to everyone who made last months barbeque such a success especially Noel Hayes, Gary and Jamie Power, Bob Coveney, Eileen Cronin, Denis McCarthy & Mary Hurley. We had great weather and it was a lot of fun!
The Coney Island Great Irish Fairwas great fun this year. The weather was fantastic as was the entertainment which included U2 Tribute Band Unforgettable Fire, Shillelagh Law, Jamesons Revenge, Andy Cooney and Derek Warfield and the Young Wolftones. And it wouldn’t have been a complete Coney Island experience without a Nathan’s hot dog and a ride on the historic Cyclone roller coaster – both of which I thoroughly enjoyed! Can’t wait til next year!
And on a similar note, the Fourth Annual Hudson Valley Irish Fest took place on Saturday September 22ndon the banks of the Hudson at the Riverfront Green in Peekskill, NY. Entertainment included Irish step dancers, a massed pipe band, Black 47,Jamesons Revenge and Derek Warfield and the Young Wolftones. This fair just gets bigger and more popular every year. I ran into Consul General Noel Kilkenny and his wife Honora who had taken the train up and were quite impressed with all the hard work and organization that had gone into it. Congrats to Chairman Dan Dennehy and staff on a job well done!
