Important Dates:
- Roadside cleanup on our adopted highway; Lee Davis Road on Saturday, Oct. 21st. Martin has emailed out the details. Dan has confirmed that we can park in the Lee Dentistry parking lot.
- The Sherriff’s Fall Fellowship Festival is also on Saturday, Oct. 21st from 10-3. Please contact Dan if you’d like to work the Rotary booth.
- November 4th Bon Air Rotary Club is hosting a special event at Salisbury Country Club. Please reach out to Rich Hayes for more information if you are interested.
- Saturday, December 9th from 10-6pm is our designated Salvation Army bell ringing time. We will be at the Walmart in Ashland. The signup sheet is going around – please sign up if you can and see Janice with any questions.
- Our Hanover Rotary Christmas Party will be on Thursday, December 14th from 6-8:30pm at the Ashcreek Clubhouse – Please mark your calendars now! **We will not have our regular meeting the night before on Wednesday the 13th.

- Jim Cypress was welcomed into our club and presented his official rotary badge! Welcome Jim
- Dan recognized Ted for his 1 year of perfect attendance – Way to go Ted!
- JoAnn has sent everyone an email with detailed information on our peanut sales. Please consider participating – funds go towards our club so we can support community organizations. Deadline to order: 11/15; Peanut Delivery: 12/6
- Anyone interested in donating water tablets for Puerto Rico can bring them to the meeting on 10/11 so they can be collected. Holly will ensure they get on the plane so they can be distributed!
Program: Penny Guiles, Classification Speech
- Penny, whose given name is Maria, was given her nick-name, when she was a baby for the color of her hair
- Penny was raised by her grandparents in South Carolina, having played the clarinet in high school. She graduated from University of South Carolina with a degree in Marketing/Management.
- She is a very proud founding member her Omega Phi Alpha service sorority chapter and is still very involved, leading the effort for their national conferences.
- Penny moved to Richmond 12 years ago for a job offer from Ferguson. She eventually moved on from there and found herself working the front desk at a hotel and found her niche in hospitality.
- She currently serves as the Convention Services Manager for the Hilton Garden Inn, Downtown, and feels as though this is her dream job!
- Penny helped start the Church Hill Rotary club and served as President, saying that it was hard work but very rewarding.
- Penny likes to be casual, loves sports(to include the Redskins and Gamecocks) and reality TV Penny is married and she and her husband have a cat.
