ENRICHMENT2014
June, 2014
Dear Parent/Guardian,
In the past few years the school has run a programme of enrichment towards the end of the summer term, when students have had the opportunity to take part in activities beyond their normal experience.
This year’s enrichment programme is planned for week beginning Monday, 30th June. The normal timetable will be collapsed for the week and alternative activities have been arranged. Some of these activities will be in school and some will be off site visits, but all will take place during the school day (although some of the trips may return later than the normal school finishing time).
The majority of these activities are being funded by school, but we are asking for a donation of £10 towards the activities from which your son or daughter will benefit during the week. I would be grateful if you would send your donation into the school office as soon as possible. If your child is attending any of the trips planned for that week to Lanzarote, Edinburgh or Belgium, you will not, of course, be expected to pay this donation.
The planned activities for all years include a Creepy Crawly Talk, Circus Skills workshops, Sports Days and cinema visits (please see the reverse of this letter for a more detailed timetable of activities). Students in years 9 and 10 will also be visiting the Museum of Science and Industry and Hadron Collider in Manchester; year 9 on Wednesday, 2nd July and year 10 on Monday, 30th June. On these days, coaches will leave Manchester at 3.00pm and should be back at school at approximately 4.00pm. If there is any significant variation on this time it will be posted on the school website.
Students will be required to wear full uniform during the enrichment days, unless stated below:
Attend innon-uniform / Attend in
sports kit / Attend in uniform and bring sports kit
Year 7 / Friday, 4th July / Thursday, 3rd July / Tuesday 1st July

Year 9 / Wednesday, 2nd July / Tuesday, 1st July / Friday, 4th July
Year 10 / Monday, 30th June
Wednesday, 2nd July
If you do not wish your child to take part in any of the off-site activities or if there have been any changes to your child’s medical needs this year, would you please inform the relevant Head of Year in writing.
Thank you again for your help and support. We hope and expect that all students will be enriched and inspired by new experiences during the week.
Yours sincerely,
John Shannon
