Job Description – Home Energy Advisor

Responsible to: Project Manager

Salary: £8,500

Hours of work: 3 days per week on a flexible basis to include some weekends and evenings if required

Place of work: Clyde FC, Broadwood Stadium and community locations

Contract: Contract until 31st March 2017

Requirement: A PVG scheme check is required for this post

Job purpose

To work as part of the Carbon Clyde team to deliver a new Home Energy Advice project throughout Cumbernauld. The Carbon Clyde project will help to reduce fuel poverty by giving energy efficiency advice and support, advice on tariffs and switching, plus referrals to partner organisations for income maximisation and budgeting advice. The project will help people stay ward while spending a lower proportion of their income on fuel, and will also develop skills and confidence for participants to take control of their energy use and bills.

The role will be to deliver and report to the Project Manager outlining the progress of this strand of the project on a monthly basis.

The project is a partnership between Clyde FC Community Foundation, Clyde FC and Active Schools.

Specific responsibilities

·  To carry out home advice visits offering one-to-one advice, support and information to householders.

·  To recruit, train and maintain a group of volunteers.

·  To deliver events, advice surgeries, workshops and talks for community groups.

·  To attend local events to promote the Carbon Clyde project.

·  To work with the project team to develop activities and resources to raise awareness of home energy use, and to change attitudes and behaviours.

·  To assist in the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems, and carry follow-up surveys of participants.

·  To develop a network of contacts, including local community groups, for the project to work with.

General responsibilities

Knowledge, skills and experience

·  Good written and verbal communication skills

·  Motivated individual

·  Good planning and organisational skills

·  Knowledge and experience of providing energy advice within a community setting

·  Knowledge of methods to increase the energy efficiency of domestic homes

·  Measurement of Carbon reduction outcomes

·  Excellent report writing, presentations and verbal skills

·  Competent in Microsoft office e.g. word, spreadsheets etc

·  Experience of delivering events

·  Able to work independently, set own priorities and deliver within agreed timescales

·  Able to constructively build working relationships with colleagues and other partners

·  Current driving licence
